Oddly, I left a comment on this thread and your portfolio review posted last night. The comment and the critique request have now disappeared.

Probably something to do with your comment, suggesting incredulity on your part that he teaches photography. As with a vast majority of your comments on the forum, it came across as superior and a snide put down, and has maybe (and understandably) been removed.

Id expect the moderators (who aren't known for standing on chairs shrieking due to the normal range of comments in the forum) would probably have said something then? Unless you've been promoted to 'net nanny' now and your opinions actually worth listening too?

Anyway, the site loaded wonky on mobile, since that was the question posed.

Paul, when I'm after a critique, I'll let you go first xxx

Based on your posts on another thread, and I quote, 'Weird,' and 'I don't seem to be able to post any comments currently..,' I'm standing by my previous post here.

The website loads fine on my PC in Firefox.

I enjoyed your 'Land and Sea' gallery.  I thought some of the images were really quite stunning, though some were also a bit too HDR for my tastes, but that's just my personal preference.

There was nothing that really stood out for me in the Portraits gallery, though they were technically sound.

In all, a very good effort.

Cheers
Paul

For me it comes across as a bit of a car boot stall. Throw everything on the table and hope there is something that takes the fancy of anyone who happens to pass. By that I mean it is not clear to me what you are actually about. Wedding photographer, portraits. fine art prints for sale, training. the end result is that even if I was shopping in one of those areas there is not enough of anything to hold me at all let alone entice my to go further.

Buy Prints for example just goes to a brief message saying what you want and leaving it for them to email you with details of images they presumably have found somewhere. I was anticipating at least a gallery with purchase options.

Book a shoot heads to a short message telling them to email you. No hyperlinking the email even and no form. Strangely you also have a contact page. That has a form yet no email or phone number.

Weddings goes to a gallery of images. Are you hoping to get weddings or just showing off a few images.

Teaching I assumed would take me to a page offering courses. Instead it seems to be random videos and links to technical articles about things like compositing despite this having nothing to do with the images on display.

Sorry if all that comes across very negative.

I think you really need to make up your mind what you are seeking to do with this site and focus on that.

Are you selling images
Are you seeking portrait and wedding commisions
Are you setting up a portal offering free online training
Are you offering workshops.

That is at least three different sites that do not really mix. Yes you could major in portraits/weddings and have a small section offering training but in trying to have it all you will get nothing.

My advice is to decide what is most important to you and focus on that with the site. I recognise the Wordpress template in use and know it can be used to create something much more dynamic than what you have. There is no reason not to have quite a plush gallery with a proper shopping cart if selling prints was your main desire for example (though personally that is not the route I would take if I wished to sell images online)

Redbaron's covered it all pretty well. Specialise, be really good at your specialism, engage with the viewer. Right now it's very undercooked in all areas.

Try smugmug for your gallery, it's excellent. Easily integrates with web platforms and provides online galleries of your various photo categories. Customers can view (password protected if thats helpful) and share order prints, canvas or framed products ( etc, there are lots of options) and pay easily with card or PayPal. Then prints are made up and delivered by Loxley, who are top banana, and delivered by post. You decide what to charge and branding/packaging options you'll make available.

It's fairly cheap but if you're actually providing saleable work, will easily pay for itself at least, if not provide a handy stream of income with little or no effort. Its especially handy for weddings since there's always a call for single prints or gift items within the family, and we see decent sales in folks providing presents at Christmas etc.

Smugmug customer service is excellent too.
