I've got a MK1.. and do like it, yes you have to be fairly close though the light it produces is very nice..

each to their own..

I did think the prices would drop to move old stock.. I would definitely wait for the MkII, if I was looking for a second light..

Expensive - yes
Cheaper now than when I purchased one.
Full length key light - forget it
Accent light or quick soft lighting with quick fall-off - it is very seductive lighting.

Quality compared to 'torches' - no comparison.
Where there's a Will, there's a way.

Yep, but you pretty much need an assistant on any shoot that uses it as that seems to be the only way to get it close enough.

The new one might be better if its more powerful but you'll need to stick it on a stand and bugger about a bit to get it positioned well enough.

I have 2, found my canon flash units too fiddly and wanted something portable.
Love them. The barn doors and gels are also helpful. Price for the original has dropped a bit but they are expensive.
