Well, I am a very, very recent purchaser of a Gigapan! It's an ex demo Epic Pro, the big one, just getting into it, at the moment.

Unfortunately, it seems that the company that produces the Gigapan are having some trouble. I have been lusting after the Epic Pro for a while now - and decided to take the plunge last October. However after reading this from the UK supplier, I have given up for the time being.

I have also tried the main website Steven linked to, but always get an error when adding anything to the basket. I hope that they do come back in 2015.

As to the Gigapan software, yes it is very good, but it does not support exposure blending (HDR), which for landscapes is essential in my opinion, however, PTGui Pro does.

One very good reason I hope manufacturers move to 16 bit (or higher) RAW in the future.  I've heard that the tonal range with 16-bit RAW on the likes of Hasselblad puts 14-bit RAW from Canon/Nikon to shame.

Gigapan have been taken over by a larger company, but are in the process of getting reorganised.

Agree, I remember the difference moving from the 30D (12bit) to 40D (14bit) made.  Must have a look at the Pentax MF, at £6.5k it's a bit more affordable than a Blad.

That's good to know, will keep an eye out - hope that the price remains similar.

Good news for the product then...hard to imagine it might disappear from the market with so many photographers into making panoramic images; particularly in the US, where money seems no object to most of them!!

... and they have consistent weather. I just know if I got one it would go from sunny to overcast and rainy through every shoot cycle I attempt with one.
