Most of my recent workshops have demonstrated how to set up some quite complex shoots to give you the chance to try something you’d otherwise not be able to.  Now I want to demonstrate a style that’s repeatable on most budgets.

We’ll be working mostly with natural light, supplementedwhere required with speedlights and a brolly and gels.  The style of images will be similar to my recent Marilyn shoot that you can see here -

The model for the day will be Ashley-Jade who was my model for the Marilyn shoot.  I’ve worked with Ashley for many years, she’s a very expressive model and a pleasure to work with.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with Ashley 1:1 to take your own images.  I’ll be shooting mostly with wide aperture prime lenses and to get similar images on full frame anything from 135mm – 200mm f2.8 and wider would be ideal.  That said, especially with crop sensors, you’ll be fine with a ‘nifty fifty’ but avoid wide angle lenses and slow kit zooms

Following on from this I’ll take you through my basic workflow.  I’m a long term user of Phase One Capture One and that is still my primary RAW converter but lately I’ve also been impressed with Lightroom 4 and I’ll use both together with my plugin of choice ‘Alien Skin Exposure’.

Places for this workshop are limited to a maximum of 6 and it will take place on the 23rd of June from 11am at Hallam Mill in Stockport.  Please use this link to book your place
