If camera lenses are circular why aren't all images round too? In the current digital age without the limitation of film there is no reason for all this lost image.

Round things are actually very wasteful, cut a bunch of circles out of a piece of card and you have a lot of waste, cut a bunch of squares and you have no waste. Simple really.

Digitally speaking a square and a circle of the same area can take the same amount of memory, but you missed the main point. Its a rhetorical question....

I'm not really sure what a rearhistorical question is, but working on the principle that a circle is a crooked straight line bent so that the ends meet, it would appear they both stem from the same origin.

Rhetorical question: A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question posed for its persuasive effect without the expectation of a reply (e.g.: "Why me?) Rhetorical questions encourage the listener to think about what the (often obvious) answer to the question must be.....
