i have had a photographer contact me regarding a shoot....i didnt want to go into the exact reasons of my health problems as i feel they are personal and photographers get scared when i tell them...i bring a chaperone for health reasons purely..and they are long term...this is what i said

to be honest its my personal business...but i can shoot just need a chaperone thats when i find photographers perhaps get scared..if i arrange a shoot and i feel the photographer needs to know thats when i tell them...

after october is fine ..

if you fancy shooting the give me a shout...

or if arranging one now thats fine...

debbie

this was his reply....

Thanks Debbie but I like my girls to be honest and open with me, I wish you lots of luck but no thanks. I dont mind a chaperone to the first 'get to know you' shoot then I expect NOT to be one there after that! Im not some crazed maniac ask ANY of my models!

all the best

and i cant even respond to that becuase he has blocked me...

so when he said "I like my girls to be honest and open with me" do you think he believed you or not?
Was it your first shoot together?

So Debbie, move on. Whatever your health reasons are you'll have to accept that some people will be accommodating to your new needs and some won't. You can't change people, so don't waste your energy even thinking about it. Some togs will work with chaperones around, some won't. Some togs will get scared about your health issues some won't Just find the ones that will and move quickly past those that won't.

......Oh dear, sad in many ways you found this unlucky tog... He surely has a few problems.. I think it's his ego that's being hurt here.. Just move on and do your bit....As for any chaperones coming on my shoots I never mind as it only means finding a few extra cups of tea and possibly a couple of chocolate Hobnobs.

Whilst, your personal health reasons are indeed personal, in these types of instances i think you need to consider an eloquent way of telling photographers why you need someone around. Don't term them as a chaperon, as they're more than that.

Your health issue, may well not infiltrate the shoot, but understand that for most photographers, having someone else within their "space" without a justified reason is more often than not an unnecessary irritation on their part and will mess up the general "aura" of a shoot.

If you feel that you can't be straight with photographers in regards to your health issue (or at least explain to the point that they understand it's a safety measure that is necessary for the next month or so) then those who state they don't work with chaperons are within their right and - as has been said before - you should move on. There will be photographers out there who don't mind.

Good luck with it.

He's on an ego trip IMO and the I've highlighted why I also think he has a 'pimp' mentality.
When you are dead, you do not know that you are dead. All of your pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

Per Adua Ad Astra Debbie. Keep on going. I have toged an epileptic lass who came with her FATHER incase she had a turn. That was an interesting shoot as the lass also had problems with flash going of.

I also think that this rather an interesting subject. It still amazes me that, in this day and age there are still some people who gets scared of other peoples conditions.

One chap I know of in my area refused point blank to do any wedding photography for a lass who had cancer, why? "Incase you die on me and I get the blame". Her future husband was hopping up and down mad at him!

Oh, and I am NOT having a go at the guy who refused the shoot with Debbie.

Why do some togs get hung up on the topic of chaperones, lets face it if you are used to doing commissioned shoots you will have a stylist, MUA, someone from the clients side etc etc. paramount for me is that a model is comfortable with the shooting situation.

The only time I had problem with a chaperone was when they got their camera out and wanted to shoot over my shoulder, now that was a No No, the camera was put away and the chaperone sat back to drink their coffee. For me having other people on set, that the model is comfortable with, can actually help a shoot.

Well, you could be a bit clearer on your profile as to exactly what your chaperone does during the shoot. Does he/she bring a book & sit in another room? Does he/she stay inside the studio & watch the shoot but will move if the photographer needs to shoot from his spot? Does he/she... Sorry, but I could go on forever.

I've worked with at least three models who are bi-polar & one who was a manic-depressive & the run a rounds that I've had to endure have been very tiresome & painstakingly annoying. Anything from mistaking me for someone else, to forgetting a shoot or cancelling a shoot because they didn't feel safe travelling etc. At the same time though I have gained a few good images.

So, be honest with your problems, or just don't mention them at all if they don't affect the visual fabric.
