I was interested to hear that she's being cremated. Presumably so that nobody can dig her back up again.

Others might disagree but from personal experience Maggie did more than any PM to get people off work than people into work. Shops were closing down left, right and center, many of those who closed their businesses, stayed on benefits and never return to work again to this day.

Thatcher did what she thought was best for our country...and whether you like her or not, there is no denying she was an amazing woman, not least for the fact she was a strong woman who achieved a great deal within a male dominated environment.  I have to respect her for that.

People who are making remarks about being glad of her death are pathetic!...but of course the Purestorm trolls could have run the country much better...from behind their computer screens, no doubt!

You might not know but Maggie was anti women and think a lot of them were rubbish. She made sure she was the only woman who has any say in her cabinet.

Thatcher was pro censorship. She allied herself with Mary Whitehouse and went about "cleaning up" videos, pinups, etc. How she would have made of Purestorm if she was still in power one can only guess.

She was not "Anti-women", but she was no femenist, and I admire her for that!

Yes she is. She was totally against any other women joining her cabinet.

You admire her for not being a feminist ? Do you admire all people who aren't feminists or just those with rich husbands.

She wanted the best people for the job...the majority were men.  That does not make her anti-women!

There was a junior woman minister in Thatcher's cabinet who was hired much to her opposition. Thatcher belittled her and snubbed her. She want no female rivals. A Queen Bee mentality.

What a ridiculous thing to say!  I admire the fact she sought the best people for the job.

I say good riddens to her.  She ruined many communities in my area, and I'm sure there's many in those communities that wish they could afford to celebrate in style.

Shew did what had to be done to repair the damage done to the UK economy by a combination of out of control unions and successive Labour governments that pandered to them. Whilst she wasn't perfect and made mistakes, by and large she succeeded. I'm old enough to remember the state of the country in 1979, the shambolic mess left by Callaghan's Labour. I was brought up in a Socialist minded family, but my memories of the 70's have left me incapable of voting Labour again. Now after another 13 years of Labour government look at the shambolic mess we're in once more. It astonishes me how people are quite happy to blame the cure and not the cause.
So well put. Very much my thoughts, apart from that I was raised in a mildly Tory household - scratched around to make ends meet, but had the pride to sort things out ourselves without sponging off the state. A sad day indeed - loss of one of our lifetimes true "greats".
