If you use the same password on Purestorm as you do on other sites you may be wise to change it, I have reason to believe that another site owner may be logging-in to Purestorm and changing passwords of members on here..

Matt sorry for being a numpty...

could you explain what you mean a bit???

Or Pm people and let them know what site it is thats doing it and then we can just change our passwords there??

[ #ff0000">Moderator Edit : Purestorm does not know, and cannot possibly know, which sites models are using a common password on. The sensible option for members to take if using a common password across the sites would be to change their Purestorm one to something totally different using the Change Password button at the top of the page ]

Another case of this has recently come to light, where a member's profile was accessed by someone (allegedly another site owner they had fallen out with) after they used the same Username and Password as on this site, and as a result they found themselves locked out of their own Purestorm profile.

If you use exactly the same username and password on other sites or forums or bulletin boards as you use for this site, you really are asking for trouble.

Drawing this to Model attention once more as another member has fallen victim. See here :-
profile hacking
Please do not use the same password for other sites and please regularly change your PS one.
{ Although this problem can apply to all members it is predominantly Models that these crooks target}
{ Fortunately in this instance one of the model accounts contacted was a check account run by Matt }

Bringing this forward again due to another related (non-Purestorm) issue we have been made aware of.
It can be dangerous to use the same password for both e-mail and portfolio sites
or as your log-in password for more than one portfolio / social networking site

Members who belong to MM should have received a Security Advisory about reports of
possible security breaches at other websites of which they may be a member.
Purestorm is NOT one of these sites and like MM our security has NOT been compromised either.
However, as we have previously advised and as MM is echoing to its members,

Please do not use the same password for other sites and please regularly change your PS one.

To change your password go to Manage Your Account Settings  in the Manage Profile menu.

Please note that Password Security is not only applicable to Models.
A Photographer has just Reported receiving three unsolicited Password Reminder emails.
Such reminders are of course only sent to members' registered email addresses so
unless your personal email has been compromised there should be no problem.
However it cannot be stressed stongly enough that members should NOT use the same
password across different sites and should never use the same one as for their email address.

This is merely common sense but it never ceases to amaze us how many fail to take this simple precaution.

Be aware that the person behind a 'CREATIVEUK' networking site appears to be harvesting
email addresses and associated passwords then using them to access members' profiles

(and maybe also their email accounts) on various model / photographer portfolio hosting sites .

Fortunately one of our members reported suspicious activity a week ago and as a result we
were able to take action, though infuriatingly a number of other members turned a blind eye.

It is imperative that members do not use the same password for multiple sites and that they
regularly change their password to keep the crooks and other undesirable at bay.

We have good reason to believe that the webmaster of a pseudo-agency site has used a
genuine Model member's Purestorm profile to contact other models without her knowledge
and has changed her account's email address to his own to keep her out of her profile.

It is imperative that Models do not use the same password for more than one site as
doing so can allow undesirables to take over their profile to con other models ... or worse.

Worryingly, although this man has contacted over 250 models since January not one has
bothered to Report the suspicious Personal Messages coaxing them to contact him for work.

Purestorm can only prevent dodgy guys like this preying on our female members if other
members take password security seriously and also Report suspicious internal mail.

Models - this is serious!
If you allow somebody else to access your profile through lax password security
not only will you lose access to your account but you risk being permanently excluded.
Purestorm takes Model Safety seriously but we need models to accept responsibility too.

DO NOT USE THE SAME PASSWORD FOR MORE THAN ONE SITE
and do not use the same password for your email that you use for portfolio sites.

If you are contacted by another model telling you to log into CreativeUK to request removal of your images
on a web profile on that site please Report it immediately so we can refer this to the Police Liaison Officer.
Update: Note also that the puremayhemmadcows web page is a similar con which targets models.

There is a Report this e-mail to admin link on every incoming PM

If you use the same email and password to access multiple websites you will allow crooks to access
your profiles on all the sites you use and give them a way of changing your password to lock you out.

Models, please switch your common sense back [On] if it is currently switched [Off]!
