as stated in my profile i am just getting back into modelling, is there any photographers out there that would be wiling to work with a tattooed model ? Some images on my profile are just normal pictures and not from shoots as i have been out of modelling for the past year but really want to get back into it,
Tattoes will probably limit those that would work with you in general, some have no call for it and some just plain dont want it ! i have no issues given that i am A: shooting for fun not profit and B:dont personally have issues with Tatts (have a few myself )
no differrent to the photographer wanting a blonde for one shoot and a brunette for another,
If we weren't at opposite ends of the country, 100% no question I'd work with you. And with ref. to the tattoos; I actively seek tattooed models but don't seem to find many, so get yourself on a tour to Cornwall pronto.
No, and tattoo's don't affect my answer, not does distance really; I'm just not convinced you've got any real promise as a model right now in terms of posing ability or causing an effect on a creative situation. Whilst I'm happy to work with those who've not shot before, there has to be something about their look and how they carry theirselves which I think will help make a great Picture happen. Maybe in time you'll influence this decision with more interesting work in your portfolio.
I don't mind tattoos on the whole. However you have a restricted range of work preferences, your images show very limited modelling experience, you're based about a million miles away and I'm sorry but I'm not overly keen on your fringe!
If you were on my doorstep I'd happily TF with you but you're not
There will no doubt be plenty willing to work with you - wether they will benefit your portfolio or not is the question.
I know when we start to its tempting to just shoot with anybody who is interested, maybe because we believe that is how we get recognised or something.
Truth is that to actually make an impact you need to be extremely careful how you manage your time and who you decide to shoot with.
When i started i had a few shoots with people who thought of themselves as "specialists" - now looking back I see mediocre images from photographers who shot the same shit with every newbie model they could get their camera lens on and their "advice" was pretty appalling.
I learned the most from people who actually put some thought and effort into their work, I learned because I asked questions and studied images after shoots.
Problem is that you don't have a varied portfolio of work so those photographers who are selective probably won't agree to shoot with you at the moment because you maybe aren't showing the "basic skills" that they would require of a model. Don't worry though, we learn this as we go on.
I do think you should study photographers portfolios and find a few who are based in Scotland that you admire, send them an honest and thoughtful message. One which makes it clear you have read their portfolio and looked at their style of work. What worked for me when I felt like I was "punching above my weight" was going to these photographers with an idea that I think would benefit us both. You could even have a location or outfit in mind - send the photographer images of these things. They might well still say "no thanks" in which case you can ask how much they will charge you for the shoot or you move on and find somebody else to work with. Putting the effort into your portfolio is not only about moving around when you are on camera and its worth taking the time to try and secure shoots with good photographers. Good photographers probably won't come to you or notice your portfolio so you must go to them.
So my advice is be selective - be willing to invest in a portfolio if you have to.
Shame about the tatts ? Really - Use your head, with that figure and body art can be easy to make publications - tattoemag, bizzare lots of others. I'm really quite intrigued by them ! If you want to shoot in London drop me a line.
I know lots of successful models with tattoos. Your main picture is an image with your mobile phone taking a selfie. You have no avatar image and you have very few pictures on your profile. Your written profile could also do with some filling out and use a spell check if you need to!!
You need to start from scratch imo, network with some studios and see if you can set up some studios days with them but request that you get decent images in return and put out casting calls as well. You will have to start with TF, but again insist on some decent edited images from the shoot otherwise its a wasted exercise...
Some people will love your tattoo's and some people wont. Its exactly the same with bush hair, some like it and some don't. Its your choice, the big difference being that your stuck with the tats, you can always grow the hair back. Your portfolio doesn't help you sell yourself. Poor quality images and little variety. I can see your a pretty girl, I cant see if you can model or not. Get some good quality images on your portfolio for a start. Then improve the blurb, check out the successful models on here and similar websites, read their notes. Then compare them to yours. You need to expand them, give more detail, and make sure it reads properly - spell check and grammar as previously mentioned. Find a good photographer close to you and ask him/her to work with you, as Chrissie said above. I would work with you, but only TFP, though its academic really as your much too far away. Good luck.
