Hello all -

So I'm going to be staying in Bristol next week, Mon - Fri and having never really ventured that way before would be much obliged to hear any suggestions of things to do, people to do things with & if anyone did fancy shooting (blah, blah yes I know - castings!). Am staying in Montpelier and will be all on my ones so suggestions & company always welcomed!

Thank you kindly, Jaye x

If you find yourself at the top of Park St, Queens Rd area, step into the University tower for a momentary glimpse of a proper Hogwarts entrance hall, you can stroll up to the Cabot tower and climb to the top for a grand view of Brizzle. The area is also good for coffee, cakes, ice creams, restaurants, lounging and people-watching.

Montpelier also has a station. A small train potters across the city through Redland to Clifton Down where it's pleasant and leafy, shops, pubs, cafes etc. and buses to the bridge from there. When you get to the bridge, Clifton is a lovely strolling area and reassuringly expensive.

Montpelier is not far from Broadmead if shopping's your thing. Bristol is a small city but hilly. Its also full of students so there are plenty of cheap eateries.

I realise that you are there already, but I like the harbour area of Bristol best. Lovely ambience. You can get a 45 min guided tour with a commentary by boat (barge)- and I thought it was worth it!

I really enjoyed the Great Britain, which used to sail to Australia and has been fully restored, it really puts business class travel into perspective, also the Royal Crescent and Roman Baths at Bath are well worth a visit if you have time for a short excursion

Hi Jaye

Hope you enjoyed your week in Bristol - and found lots of things to see
...and a few castings aswell I guess.

Have come on here for the first time in months - but a week too late
....as I would have offered company and a nominal donation if we took pics.

Things are a bit harder for me moneywise now I am fully retired
...and after I lost approx 9000 images due to bad back-up I lost heart.

Would not stop me showing you around the area sometime though if you like to.

Very best wishes,
Rob
