I've been away from studio photography for some time, well, over a decade.

Besides equipping myself with a DSLR (I have an eye on Canon EOS 600D, but not even stressed about lenses!) and learning how ISO, shutter and apt vary between film and dig, lighting and all the other subtle and not-so-subtle differences...I find myself asking one question, where do I find studios and models!

I was a regular at Studio Janor before it sadly closed, and I am now looking for studios that are of that Ilk. Googling has thrown up very poor results for me and I wonder if glamour studios are now either underground, frowned upon, or too specialised?

My needs are fairly basic. A studio with a few sets, decent lighting, and a model portfolio. All of which won't cost me silly fees.

I find myself asking one question, where do I find studios and models!

Click on 'Search' at the top of the page underneath the Purestorm logo.

http://www.purestorm.com/search_models.aspx

Then you can choose 'I'm looking for Models / Studios, etc'

Then you can select your area, eg 'West Midlands'.

Then you can send a message to anyone that takes your interest.

Best regards
Paul

Thanks for the reply Paul, but I'd already done that search. The West Midlands only netted me 3 results, all of which were located in Birmingham. This made me think either the search is flawed, there is a serious decline in studios for hire, or not many studio owners have studio accounts on here.

Try looking at http://www.studiosforhire.com/
The map page (http://www.studiosforhire.com/showgmap.php) might be the best place to start if you are looking for local-ish studios to you.

I think quite a few studios have shut as the margins have got tighter, costs higher and returns lower. Saying that though I'm pretty sure there are quite a few studios still around the West Midlands. I think there are a few over Stourbridge and Dudley way that would probably suit your needs. No idea about pricing though.

I thought I'd found one virtually on my doorstep, Bluemoon studios. But the URL is dead. I've decided to put a casting call out, maybe some models may know studios, or have their own home studios.

Thanks for the advice guys.
