Hello everyone, now I don't know where on earth to start looking but my dad likes beer a lot and it is his 50th this year so I am thinking of getting him some rare ales and I have absolutely no idea on were to buy from that is reputable!!

Any beer enthusiasts out there? (Or Ale ones!)

What I would do is go to google and enter the words Yorkshire and brewery, that should give the web-sites of any micro brewery's in your area.

There are companies that will make up gift boxes of regional real ales specially to your requirements. One is Beeritz. Can't remember other names but there are several.

Just found this one. Never dealt with them, but they seem to have a good range of interesting beers.

Try Belgian beers brewed by monks. They won't be cheap, but they will be special. Larger supermarkets should have some- if you do not want to go down the mail order route.

This might be stating the obvious, but avoid beers that are canned!

This brewery is good, it's at Saltaire, about 12 miles from Leeds.

I resemble that remark ... just ask EKD, who brought up this very topic when we were chatting earlier today.

Take a look here. If you're dad's a real ale enthusiast he's bound to appreciate it.
