I think the problem for you in Germany is its like several other European Countries, there is not particularly a proliferation of models. In Western Europe, the UK seems to me the only country where there is a volume of models willing to model to nude and adult levels, subsequently the UK is the only country I know in Western Europe which has a number of busy independent model sites. There are a few of the more successful and business minded models in the UK who use this to their advantage and model regularly in Europe where they know they can get higher fees than in the UK However, being in Germany I would have thought that Czech and Hungary would have been your obvious place to book models from?
I always tend to negotiate unless the shoot is 12 hours away and they're offering £40 for 8 hours work.
I was in Berlin couple of weeks ago and had a shoot there, model asked 50Eur / hour for art nude. I booked her via MM but she told me that most German models are on http://www.model-kartei.de.
There are far less full time professional models in Germany than in UK. Most of the models on german model sites are amateurs or hobbyists. Well it doesn't matter if modeling is your profession as long as you're reliable and good at the job. But quite often the models expect to earn a lot of money and are unable to provide a decent value for it. Generally I prefer to work with a professional UK or eastern european model instead of german wanna-bee models who tend to flake, stop communication or are ridiculously expensive.Victoria_HowardPersonally I think modeling is different in Europe and people expect to pay their models a living wage? In comparison... Life models working for colleges in Italy earn 25Euros a hour + benefits, in the UK they earn £9-15.00 a hour The rate of pay for promotional modeling seems to have almost halved over the last 5 years.
Yep, around 50 EUR / hour is what quite a lot of models are asking for. Sometimes they are even unwilling to negotiate for longer bookings like half day or full day. Anyway, imho a model needs to be really good to be worth 50 EUR / hour for art nude. I hope you've a model release, this is essential in Germany due to the law. I once had a model demanding 70 EUR / hour for topless and no commercial usage of the images. Well, I haven't booked her and wished her good luck for her future modeling career. Later on I talked to another photographer who told me that she is not really interested in earning money from modeling because her main income is from escort services.PHP_PhotographyI was in Berlin couple of weeks ago and had a shoot there, model asked 50Eur / hour for art nude.
