Comedian Norman Collier, best known for his faulty microphone act, has died at the age of 87, his daughter confirmed.

Collier, who had Parkinson's disease and was living in a nursing home near his hometown of Hull, died on Thursday.

I grew up fascinated at his routines.

Here he is in action

Simpler times... when you could build an entire career on just one joke.

It's what he would have wanted.

Met Norman a few times he was a gent and always made you laugh, he didn't have to say anything he was a great comedian and gent, the current comedians are poor in my opinion. RIP

So true, the new crop of comedians are poor. Norman Collier, Les Dawson, Eric and Ern all greats and gave pleasure to young and old alike.

Another sad day in British Comedy History.

RIP Norman
