Hi everyone,

What are the best agencies for finding extra work for tv/ film?
I have had some experience and am looking to do more of this sort of thing.

You shouldn't pay!  I'm with an agency who provide models, actors and TV exta's etc etc.  They don't take any money but charge 17% of what you earn.

I have a friend who has worked with them in Coronation Street

But dont expect to get rich as your travelling costs can wipe out your fee if you are a distance from tv studios

Good luck

I've worked on Waterloo Road via Impact Model Agency in Widnes, Cheshire. I only got £75 for a LONG day and no travel expenses. However my son did something for Hollyoaks and got over £200. The agency say it depends on 'what you have to do'. It IS fun and I hope to do more later in 2013 when I've more time. Makes a change from other work. Just don't spend all your money on 'getting there' to whereever the shoot is!

£75 for a long day is about right. It is quite common to be "needed" on set from 7am to 7pm as a minimum, and that could over-run. As has been said, look at it as fun and something interesting if you want to know what goes into producing a film or TV prog, but it's very, very unlikely you'll be spotted and catapulted to Stardom. You could even work with some famous Actors, and if you wanted to do a bit of creative writing to boost your portfolio/C.V., then you could include that in your "Worked With" List. I'm thinking of changing mine now........ Worked With: Johnny Depp, John Malkovich, Samantha Morton, Johnny Vegas. may look impressive on my Profile..... Dave. p.s. That worked with list is all true, and it was generated by just one Film. So if you're particularly bored, have a quick game of "Name That Film". And no Googling Cast Lists!

i've done quite a few free lance, but its true dont expect to make money in extra-ing (only in films though) it much more a hobbies thing

the only one i've ever been paid for was street dance and that didn't cover the travel and hostel cost to go film it

its fun though, meet good people, the runners are always lovely, you meet great actors (ive even shot a scene with Terrance Stamp alongside meeting the actors in the films) but its very long days for travel expenses basically, and sometimes you show up get messed around for days and then get dropped

it can be quite depressing though when you work your ass off for days and get 1 second of air time lol if your lucky, if not you get cut all together (which in some cases is infuriating)

not to mention when your expected to travel the length of the country for free to sit a casting with 200 people that your hardly likely to get - im not rich enough for that lol

I would have thought that models would be last choice in a line-up of extras. As they are either too distractingly shapely or pretty to blend into the background. And I can’t imagine the leading ladies being too keen in extras that rival them in looks or figure.

The Libertine.

I think I might be the only person alive, who actually watched it.

More fool me.
