Who are your heroes of photography? Whose work do you most admire? Who are your top five?
Rules. 1) They don't have to be members of Purestorm. 2) They don't have to be alive. 3) They must be known as photographers of models (or at least people) so those whose work is mainly to do with landscape, wildlife, architecture, etc. are not allowed.
Here's my top five in no particular order.
Cecil Beaton Henri Cartier-Bresson Eric Kroll Nikki Sixx Chad Michael Ward
Well this thread cheapened the word 'hero' for sure.
I dont think I could list 5 despite studying a degree in photography. I do appreciate many images - some by unknown people, some by so-called 'heroes' and also hated many images by the same but I often don't look at the name of the photographer unless I really wish to see more of their work. At college it was almost a required thing that almost smugly, validated your integrity and knowledge as a photographer if you were able to, as soon as possible, list a well known group of names you were educated enough to know and tasteful enough to appreciate, especially if they were mysteriously unknown to anyone not within the educated photographic circle. David Bailey would never appear as he was mass popular culture .. far too common ) Each to their own I guess.
