I thought I'd ask the experts about this before I waste my money.

Is there a book of make-up styles that stands out above the rest ?   I would love to browse through a book of make up styles throughout the ages and be able to ask a MUA if  they could recreate a particular period style for me. It would also be great to be able to look at make-up pictures for inspiration and then discuss with the MUA how we can add a twist to it for more unusual shots.

If you have any good book recommedations I'd love to hear about them.

Any book by Kevin Aucoin is worth a look- Making Faces, The Art of Make Up, Face Forward, and Kevin Aucoin, A Beautiful Life, although The Art of Make Up is a little more difficult to get hold of now. HTH.

yup - what june said - Have a couple of his books and they're really good. Also for modern makeup, get some fashion mags - vogue, W, 125 and the like. There's always some interesting makeup in them.
