Most of my salaried professional work has been in operating theatres taking pictures of the unusual and unpleasant where the human body is concerned along with a little police work from time to time (small town stuff). Beyond this I’ve been involved with product promotional and brochure employment as a sideline having left full time photography; now only once in a blue moon really and based on stuff I’ve done and relationships from the past.
So it’s back to art-the heady days of the Wolverhampton life drawing classes, leaving the prescriptions of science and looking forward to the fun and freedom of working with people (not anaesthetised or dead ones this time); sharing ideas, experimenting with the results.
My main areas of interest are in Sci-fi, Burlesque, Black & White, nude etc. I like working with contrasts both in light and composition.
Hope this helps.
Having left school (with little to no idea of what to do) I studied fine art and photography at Wolverhampton School of Art and following this became a medical and forensic photographer. (And it all seems like yesterday-I think). During this time I added to my income with the usual weddings and things as I had access to some (at the time) rather good facilities FOC.
Well, time, tide and circumstance (money really) lead me to leave and find my fortune elsewhere-sadly still no real joy on the fiscal front though but at least when I open the door there isn't any wolf.....or none that I've seen of late at least! Other than the odd bit of commercial work I’ve had little to do with photography since that time.
Now, though, with a little more time there is the opportunity again.......but only for distraction; rekindling the interest and nothing to do with my living.
