Hello there all! I am extremely new to this industry. No experience. If there was something below greenhorn I would be there. I suppose novice will have to suffice. I am currently a student, majoring in English Lit, minoring in photography. I have always had a passion for it. I have a very deep love for vintage cameras, specifically folding cameras. Coming purely from my own opinions I think there is something to be said for the absolute basics in this area. I do love the stuff of today too :).
I have joined this community because I am eager to absorb any and all knowledge in this area. Consider me a dry sponge fresh out of the package. I am absolutely serious about learning people. I am also extremely curious about the modeling industry. People have said I should model, citing my cheekbones as the reason. Not a good enough one in my opinion. Cheekbones will not get you anywhere. I personally feel I have more going against me in the modeling area. Perhaps I am overly critical of myself. I am plus size and learning to love the skin I am in. Photography helps me to do that. Do not take that to mean I try to maintain my plus size status, but I have never been interested in becoming, dare I say it at the risk of offending people, rail thin. Yes I work to get in shape, single digit sizes is not my goal. Is it odd to say that I love natural beauty? Yes I wear makeup, but I think trying to capture the essence of a person in your photography is much more attractive than trying to end up in a magazine.
As you all can tell from all I have said I am still figuring out my niche in this area. I am hoping with some guidance from more experienced fellows that I can find that and achieve my goals.
I have no professional photos of myself so you will have to make due with what I have. I repeat nothing I have is professional! I am not yet brave enough to take pictures of my body, I think that is recently quickly changing though. My self confidence is increasing quite a bit lately. I do look forward to constructive criticisms all the same. Key word being constructive.
All in all I am looking forward to learning and making some new friends along the way!
Experience No experience unless selfies count(I am sure they do not). See the general comments for more details on me! :D
