I had a wonderful shoot with Simon during my stay in Gloucester. When I arrived he suggested that we did a shoot with no make-up on, I must admit I did feel quite apprehensive about this but Si made me feel comfortable and I felt that I could brave it. When I saw the results I was so chuffed that I'm now going to show off my natural face more often! Simon is easy going, kind hearted and he knows how to host a good shoot. I would highly recommend him to models who are looking to achieve some great pictures for there portfolios! Thank you very Simon!

Had a very enjoyable 1-2-1 tuition with Si, as he makes the learning fun as well as informative. Very patient and good at explaining things in a easy to follow way, especially giving little tips, which will be remembered at my next shoot. Was well worth the visit, I do recommend! Thanks again Si. Ted.

Had a wonderfully relaxing day with Si who is not only an astonishingly good photographer, a talented make-up artist but is also great fun to be around. We drank countless cups of tea and Simon made me lunch in between adjusting make-up and lighting. He provided me with some stunning images and made one of them his main profile picture :)Can't wait for next time! Thanks Si! Highly recommended.

I spent a day with Simon to help me progress as a photographer, I now understand some of the basics behind what makes a decent image and am able to look at images in a different way, I also picked up lots of helpful tips on how I can improve my own work, the good thing about Simon's tuition is it can be applied to any style of photography, he left me with plenty to think about and I will be interested to see how I progress in the next 6 months.

I fully loved shooting with Si, what a dude. The complete package - nice guy, good photographer, MUA(!), fake Irish accent, sense of humour, good taste in women's clothes, what more could you want. 100% recommended and would definitely work with him again! J x

Wow, what or say! Intensive 1-to-1 portrait workshop with Si has blown my mind wide open to the psychology behind truly great photography. Within minutes I realised I knew so little, but that's ok because Si expertly and nimbly builds a platform of appreciation and understanding of the guiding principles behind all great shots. I've been reading photography differently, feeling more able to, ever since. I wanted to improve my shots and Si's workshop has given me the insight to do just that. Thank you Si.

I finally arrange a day with Simon for some 1-2-1 coaching. I picked up several, important fundementals that I'd clearly been overlooking. I definitely came away with plenty of food for thought. The other great thig about Si is the support he gives after the tutorial. He's always on hand to give further advice which is a great bonus. Cheers Si.

I went to Simon for a tailored 1:1 course covering a fairly wide range of issues which based on Simon's experience and insight into photography psychology have given me a completely different outlook on picture taking for the future. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to move their photography to the next level.

I had the pleasure and opportunity of working with Sy at his home in Gloucester for 2 days this week. He kindly put me up for 2 nights and was very hospitable! Sy is a very intelligent guy with a high level of knowledge in photography. He gives excellent direction along with making me feel extremely comfortable throughout the shoot and my stay. He knows exactly how to get an expression out of a model and I think he got something out of me which noone ever has. He is an inspiration to me, very honest, kind hearted, genuine, funny, entusiastic about photography, I could write a book on how much I like Sy!! So without a doubt, any model that Sy offers a shoot should take this opportunity and learn from him, as I came away with nothing but a smile on my face, a brain full of enthusiasm to do better, and some beautiful images! Thanks Sy for a very memorable stay. :) x

"Specialist Portraiture, Photographic Coach and teacher. Reasonable photographer.".... Simon is so much more than this, while he is an excellent teacher and brilliant photographer, his ability to capture the real person is amazing. I have had many photographers attempt to get a real smile from me but Simons outrageous jokes really set the mood and improved me no end, it was a very relaxed shoot and his shooting style would suit any model. A very happy Eva x

What a thought provoking and engaging day of training I have just had! Si's teaching methods are excellent, encouraging me to reflect on the wisdom he was imparting and think about its uses. He paced the course perfectly and it was pitched just right for my level and requirements. During my day with Simon I had at least two wonderful "light bulb moments". Those rare and exciting times when something just clicks and the penny finally drops. I am looking at photo's in a different way now, and have finally started to understand the elements that help create a good image. I have no question that the investment in this course was some of the best money I have spent in a long long time.

Simon is one of those photographers I just had to work with - I adore his romantic style and approach, and the day didn't disappoint! My feet bled, my socks were caked on the inside with mud after the shoot and I was flippin' freezing, but it was worth it. Great locations, lovely make up and excellent ability to inspire/capture expressions. Creative company and made me giggle in the process!

If anyone is looking for an insight in to how to make an image really work then I would recommend attending one of Simons courses. Simon teaches in an easy to understand way allowing you to get what he is talking about and to also see how it can be applied. Within the first 30 minutes I had a better understanding of how an image works than I have ever got from any book or session before and by the end of it felt more confident and competent in knowing what I am looking for in an image and how to get it. Thanks Simon for a real eye opening weekend Cheers Stu

March 10 - I had the privilege of taking part in a 2-day course Simon was teaching this weekend and wonder if my recommendation can do him and his talent and insight justice... A very interesting and kind person you could listen to all day, he could probably take a technically flawless picture with a blindfold over his eyes! He owes his remarkable skills to years of keen learning and practice, an enriching professional background, a very sharp mind and genuine enthusiasm, creativity and vision. Needless to say I believe the photographers who attended Simon's course were very happy they had decided to do so - they'll probably sleep well tonight after all the eye-opening tips, principles, facts and demonstrations Simon shared with them, but also all seemed very happy with what they had learnt and eager to practice following Simon's advice and explanations. I have no doubt they were all given very valuable help and are now able to take their photographic efforts to a much higher level. I also do believe I wasn't the only one among us to spend a lovely weekend thanks to Simon's friendly and lively disposition. April 10: Shooting with Simon was something I had been looking forward to and still enjoyed beyond my expectations. He and his kind lady were both sweet and hospitable towards me and were wonderful to spend time with. We went for a location shoot with another photographer and both Si and the latter made the shoot go very smoothly - both were great company, inventive, fun and considerate as well as dynamic and professional. I even got to watch Si demonstrate his Photoshop skills to me and am delighted both that he gave me a chance to go and shoot with him and about the edits he came up with! Thank you Si!!

I attended a course with Si over this weekend, I can say without any degree of uncertainty that this was the most valuable investment I have ever made! I have learnt more in the last two days than I have in years. At the start of the course Si said he was looking for "penny dropped" moments, with the amount of pennies I have dropped this weekend I would without doubt be a millionaire. Si is a fantastic coach and has a way of explaining complex theory in a way that can be easily understood and most importantly utilised! Thank you Si.

Had a one to one tutorial with Simon yesterday. My head is still spinning with all the information I gleaned out of the session. His passion for photography has no boundaries and just makes you want to go out and take photographs. Which is what I shall be doing today. The session was relaxed, friendly and extremely informative. Couple that with the fact that you just know you will be taking better pictures after,I can highly recommend Simon as a teacher. Thankyou very much for the session Simon. I will be back as it was one of the best learning days I have had.

Specialist Portraiture, Photographic Coach and teacher. Reasonable photographer... :) Not a fan of chaperones. :)

"I will accept the rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do". RH.

Experience
"The entire course was very well structured, incredibly informative and - above all - fun. Highly recommended, and we doubt you’ll learn the skills that Simon has to teach anywhere else." Digital Photographer Magazine April 2009.

“Simon has been a positive influence in my photography career. Since the beginning, he has given me options and tools, without affecting my own personal style. In fact, he has encouraged that to grow naturally over time.

The difference with Simons tutoring style is, for example, that he will tell you “why to light something this way”, instead of just providing you with a lighting diagram that works in some situations but won’t in others. This deepens your understanding of the right way to work in all circumstances and provides you with the ability to adapt in tricky situations – which is of significant commercial value. He has taught me some very advanced topics effectively too, including deeper compositional techniques, colour theory and digital processing.

I would recommend allowing Simon to take a look at your portfolio to determine what tools you may be missing. You can then discuss the best way to plug the holes and break out of the limitations that your current knowledge will be holding you too.“
