My name is Alan Cox, and I have been producing studio work in Glasgow for the last 16 years.
I enjoy many aspects of photography, including 'femme fatale' style burlesque, fetish and art nude images and digital artworks shot in my city centre studio, a sample of which are displayed here.
For me, true collaboration between a photographer, model and make up artist, should encourage real creative input from all parties involved, not only in the execution, but in the design and planning of a shoot. I prefer to work in this way as it helps ensure that everyone working with me on a particular concept gets something they really want from the shoot. Let's face it, we all tend to have more enthusiasm for something we are really into, and coming together to produce a shared body of work we all like, is a whole lot more rewarding than simply facilitating another person's ideas.
On that vein, I tend to shoot 3 or 4 different sets in a day in a mix of styles, some shot entirely in mine, some influenced by the model/make-up artists, and generally, we end up with some surprisingly interesting crossover images which lie somewhere in the middle of our respective tastes.
Above all the artistic waffle, the process should be fun, and I like to think that my shoots tend to be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. This genre is very much about professionalism and trust, and although I don't tend to work with a huge number of models, I now consider many of those I have collaborated with over the years as trusted friends, so we are doing clearly something right, hopefully creating some nice images and good memories in the process.
If you like these samples of my photography, or if my portfolio is of interest to you and you are a creative person interested in collaborating with me, please feel free to check out my website and don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks for taking time to look at my work.
