Experience:
I now work full time in corporate and advertising video, and Photography. I approach a photoshoot with the objective of creating stylish, contemporary, sometimes provocative and usually unique ART. I've been very lucky to work with some stunning ladies while sharing a few laughs along the way. However, on a serious note, I think if a model approaches me to shoot, always in the back of my mind is the thought what can I deliver to create images that set themselves apart from others. I'm heavily into shooting with a theme or at the least utilising those elements around us that we sometimes take for granted, to create something with a lasting appeal. I use Flickr a lot. And my stats range from 100 a day to the odd peak of 6,000 a day, which is pretty good exposure for both parties. If a model requests it, I'll always link an image to a preferred site, here or on Facebook. The last two years have seen a rise in agencies and picture libraries coming to me for images to use for publication. I always shoot with an eye to syndication and will ALWAYS cut the model a percentage of the final fee. Ok, for magazines, it's more about exposure, but for the odd image here and there, the rewards are far greater than a normal daily rate. I have also started shooting in what I call "Real World Environments". These are real places with really interesting details you don't find in studios. There are some studio shoots in my portfolio but now, I take my lights wherever the scenery is interesting. I was a studio photographer for two years and after a while, to add to same 5 walls I was shooting, I started bringing in my own backgrounds. I prefer to shoot Fine Art where the power of a woman is stated with grace and power and even a degree of subtlety rather than snaps of girls holding onto their knicker line and pouting like Miss World, or images which 'dumb down' women. This, for me, is cliche. Yes, it is important for a subject to assert their femininity, even appear sexy, it just looks better if there isn't any grabbing of elastic to support this concept. I feel very strongly about the moment an image is recorded and the onus on the photographer to try to bring out something special from the model, at the same time without pressure or asking them to do anything they feel uncomfortable with. As my time is now limited, I'll work with anyone who is genuine and willing to collaborate on art. Photography is a voyage of discovery for me, as I think I'm learning new things all the time. I'm interested in experimenting with light, using urban backgrounds. I believe in originality and think photo shoots should be fun at the same time. Due to the increased interest in my work recently I am receiving syndication offers. These would be discussed with models beforehand and would result in a 80/20% split in royalties.

I have recently shot with Nick, and what a fantastic experience it was!

He is very respectful to models, never pushed any boundaries and always made sure i was comfortable (and my mug of tea was full all the time!)
His attention to detail was fantastic, he knew what he wanted out of the image and communicated this is a very clear manner. The results are fantastic, very artistic and creative. I would be more than happy to recommend nick to other models and cannot wait to work together again.

Great shoot with Nick. He's one of those photographers who's really easy to get along with and makes you feel at ease. He also had some excellent ideas and was really interesting to work with. Would definitely recommend to anyone! :)

I had an incredible shoot with Nick today. Hes such a lovely guy, very professional and knows his stuff. Awesome ideas and the time flew by on the shoot we ran out of time to do all the ideas. Great at giving direction and i really enjoyed my time. I highly recommend shooting with him!

I attended Nicks Levitation Workshop today (18/11/2012). The workshop catered for a mixed bunch of photographers in a relaxed and informal way. We all had the oppotunity to try our own ideas on camera with Nick backing up with tips and other ideas from his experience. Really enjoyable day.
