Andrew Appleton Lighting Workshop - Introduction to Photographing People in the Studio - Milton Keynes - Sun 19th August

Saracen House Studio is pleased to bring you the first of our events, workshops and seminars with renowned photographer and tutor, Andrew Appleton to be held at Saracen House Studio in Milton Keynes

The first of a three-part series of Photographing People in the Studio, this whole-day event provides those wanting to take their first steps in studio lighting with a great grounding in the technical aspects of studio photography as well as exploring how to interact with your model to get the best images. Angela Hudson will be our guest model for this workshop and you'll get to shoot different lighting styles with her during the workshop.

In this workshop, we start with studio flash, looking at shutter sync speeds, the best method of triggering flash units, the effects that different modifiers have, how light to subject distance affects the light quality and some classic lighting set-ups. We also cover how to choose the right lens and the best angle and height for different shots and how to use reflectors and flags to both add and remove light.

The majority of what we study during the day only requires one light meaning that you can go away and practice with very limited equipment. After this one day workshop you should be able to confidently work with both inexperienced and experienced models in a studio environment and achieve a variety of different moods and effects.

Students are encouraged to submit work for critique after the workshop. Refreshments are provided including a light lunch, please advise us in advance of any special dietary requirements. Andrew Appleton's Training Courses are approved and recommended by The Guild of Photographers.

What to Bring

Digital SLR of any make, please advise if you are a Sony Alpha owner.

We recommend a lens that covers 35mm to 150mm on a full frame sensor, but bring your kit bag!
