I use a screw in cable which has a 3.5 jack plug it is curly and about 1.2 metres long when stretched.The jack plug allows the cable to unplug if snagged without any damage or strain on the pc socket on the camera.I believe the pc-pc screwlock is meant for camera to nikon flash when off camera without ittl.

So is it me getting confused with gender? But me myself have never encountered a screw connector on a normal pc lead, they just plug in, then fall out when you least expect it. Mr Iconic can you post a picture of exactly what you want? might help a bit.

<qt>

Whilst we are on the subject of whether Iconic might have got his genders mixed up, has anyone had experience of the sort of screw thread on a PC lead which the OP mentions. Although the female PC socket on my cameras has a screw thread within it, this is to hold the protective plastic cap. I have never come across a PC lead with a screw thread on it. Could there be some confusion with the standard Elinchrom coax sync lead socket and plug, seen here on the left?

</qt>

Nice shot, to save any confusion these are both male connectors.

<qt>

Think of it in a biology sense, the male part goes into the female part.ie the female part is the tube one with the small pin in the centre,The male part is the one that is well "male " shaped (sort of) with the hole in the end!.</qt>

Surely this is back to front............. the male is the single central pin and the female is the central tube. Other than that I must be a woman and my wife must be the man... Now that's scary.

You say that one end plugs into the camera, in which case it's a male connector. Male to male leads are much easier to come by.
Since a female to female lead is of somewhat limited value beyond the specific use you have for it, maybe getting one of these

and using it to terminate a standard male/female lead would be a solution as it also allows a number of other possibilities (eg male/male leads from male/female ones, plus one to many leads). Linky

Alternatively the Procentre sell the Kaiser version (which looks identical) for £13.90 +VAT
