Location United Kingdom West Sussex Goring-by-sea | Mozilla Firefox is an alternative (and many believe superior) web browser to Internet Explorer. It has a lot of really nice features including a spell checker and a plug-in called Ad-Block that gets rid of annoying adverts etc. Free no-strings download:- It has far greater compliance with W3C web standards and its caching system provides much more reliable recoverabilty of data in the event of a disaster such as yours. It also uninstalls cleanly too, if you decide you don't like it. Best wishes, G. Hi Goose, I have my new computer running at home thanks toTwo-Stops I have Internet Explorer with Google homepage and it also has a spell checker. No problems with ad stuff. Dave. |

| JaneWeiss No longer a member | I know i'm not goose but just wanted to let you know that you can have firefox and google and a spell checker. I have firefox as my default browser (goose is totally right, it is far superior to explorer)... i'm not sure how we did it as David set it up but we have a google toolbar in firefox and it is our start page. Firefox also has a spell checker but it is in US English which i find quite annoying. There probably is a way to change it. |

Location United Kingdom Lancashire Lancaster/Preston/Kendal | I just spent over half an hour lovingly, painstakingly typing out THE best model looking for work advert you have ever seen. It was in depth, detailed, in full queen's english with grammar and punctuation. It was informative and humorous and covered all need to know facts. It was so beautiful it made angels weep and my own eyes spontaneously combust with euphoria at the very sight of it. There will never be another model looking for work post as beautifully articulate, touching or witty ever again. As soon as I clicked post, I found myself timed out and having to log back in. My beautiful, beautiful post has been lost forever. I want my thread, my half hour and my heart back. I need to cry. So I am going out for a cigarette in an attempt to mend my broken heart. If, IF I decide to come back it will take me at least half an hour to write it out again so I shall make sure to copy it and paste it. Bad Purestorm, naughty Purestorm...... When I first saw this thread title, I thought it was about the text I sent you lastnight! Joking aside, the same thing has happened to me and it is so annoying. If I write a very long post, I tend to copy it after I have finished writing it then click the submit button. If I find myself logged out, I can then sign back in and than paste what I have copied with all the formatting still in place. I was once writing up a moderation report which took me over an hour and a half. Im so glad I copied before submitting as I got logged out. Mike |

| mrgoose No longer a member | Just to answer a couple of questions from previous posts if I may... @ Dave (Lazeeboy):- Google is a search engine whereas Firefox & Internet Explorer (IE) are web browsers. It is possible to set Google as your start page in almost any browser. In addition IE allows you to have a handy Google Search Toolbar. However, Firefox goes one better IMHO with its customisable pick-list containing lots of different search engines, Including Wikipedia & BBC News. The screengrab below shows my configuration, I managed to grab the expanded picklist and circled it in red for you. @ Jane:- US spellcheckers are irritating if you use British/International English. However, there is a free British English Addon (along with many others), available from Mozilla. I screengrabbed the actual page for you and have circled in blue the part you need to look for:- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3 ![]() I hope this helps, best wishes, G. |
