Without naming specific people. Some that have commented on here about kit don't have a portfolio to back up what they are saying either way. If a well known and well respected photographer posts up advice about what kit he uses to create his masterpieces then the world will listen but when The portfolio doesn't stack up it loses the credibility of the argument. I'm not going to single people out as there are more than one. I'm a professional photographer with a portfolio outside of modelling that I believe gets me work but again I don't make any judgements on my own portfolio. If however I post advice as to why you should go and buy a certain poece of kit I'd expect you all to study my images and judge for yourself of whether or not my work warrants listening to my advice.... I take photography workshops sometimes and I do advice about kit but I advice in this way.... If you like this Image that I took and IF you feel that you would like to create an Image like this one or better than I advise you to use this particular lens or camera. If on the other hand you don't like my image then lets just go to the pub for a beer instead!! :-) and then we can all be friends and not worry about anything at all!

"More than one" + 1 now.

Anyhoo, my point was:

Owning Gazillion £s of kit does not automatically, in fact very rarely, equal great photographer.

For some bizarre reason people (well mostly men) think photographer X is good and he has a (insert name of expensive piece of photography kit). Therefore if I get the same piece of kit I will automatically become good.

Sadly it doesn't work that way. You have to learn the basics, then progress to the next level if you choose too. The next level doesn't necessarily require you to buy any extra pieces of kit. It's about using what you have to the best effect and being able to produce the required result in different environments/situations.

That was put over very well and backed up what Myself and others have said in the past. By the way, my portfolio on here is around 5 years out of date. i don't use the site to display my current portfolio which hardly consists of any models at all. It is not an area that I specialise in any longer. There are lots and lots of more talented artists than myself.
