Russ wouldn't allow ^this, that's for damn sure. The entire thread would be sent to the 'sin bin' and thestarglider will be getting snide emails (proper ones, not site-based ones) sent to him as a result.

If he decided to do that, that's his choice. His site, his rules again.

You can have a go about him all you like (and I personally don't know the guy so I have no idea how his mind works), but you still have to face the fact that he and a few others built a portfolio site that is hugely successful, and has taken much of the business away from here and other sites, and unless something is done about it, Purestorm will slowly go the way of Net Model.

Also outta here. No point going round and round saying the same thing. But it's interesting as I leave this thread to note that it's always to same members here to defend the site with all their might. Wake up people!!!

I know Red, very naughty of me, but I couldn't resist. All that guff about it being a numbers game, how essential the stats are, how purple your bum has to be and then he drops the bombshell, 7-8 models a month! He's REALLY selling PP well. I laughed all night and I'll probably laugh all day too...

And as much as people can bang on about it being Russ' site & his rules. The last thing I wanted as a paying member is to be constantly looking over my shoulder for fear of causing offense to him personally and getting booted at any second for some 'rule' he's conjured in his head, hence the reason I left. If he doesn't like sarcasm on the forums then it should be the same rule for all, not just for people who aren't sucking up to him or his mates.

The rules on this site are clear and apply equally to all on a level playing field which IMO is a fair way to run a business and I'll happily support it. And while it does have its problems and could do with some tweaks to freshen it up, it does the job it's intended for and as I said earlier... half the problems that plagued NM just aren't present here, hence it still continues.

Personal I not very keen on Purpleport, it is a nice site, but I find some function on purestorm much better and easier to use.

regardless of which site you use and have used and there have been a few, net-model, web-models, netportfolio, model mayhem, glamourfish, model cost, purestorm, purpleport, one model place, supermodel.com (not Phil Green's agency), star now, the models club... and they are just the one I can think of the top off my head. What makes the site sometimes a negative experience, are the people who populate it as members and hence these sites have rule due to experiences and to protect them from situation of liability.

As to numbers, the old say about quality not Quantity I think that is important to take on board in anything creative. I see a lot of people interjecting on topics that they have no experience on and it just based on third party opinion, and that is something else that can have a very negative effect and people avoid using the forums for those reasons.

A lot of people in the online photographic industry in the UK and full off BS. A lot of people will make a great effort to slate another person’s work, when in truth it down to jealousy and the fact that they want to being doing that job, or working with those models or being published… simply just put your hand in your pocket and invest into you photography or modelling. The amount of time and energy you put into about being negative about someone else work, you can use to put towards a positive approach off your own work, and address the real problem.

All these things effect on-line forums and the user experience of them, and it no wonder why some people rarely log in and engage in conversation, and that is a lost to the community as you do not gain the benefit of their experiences.

There is one thing I will say about purple port that has upped their numbers, there are model like Samantha Bentley, Chloe Toy etc., and because they produce and shoot porn they banned from the site, which I have no problem with, but it does drive those models to other sites, and photographers and other models that want to work with them, if they play fare and within the rule off purestorm, maybe they should be allowed on / back?
Madcow models… another site I just remembered

Kind Regards Paul http://www.paul-batterbury.com

And I really can't see how you can think the portfolio layout on here is better? It's horribly dated and clunky and really doesn't help to sell yourself.

PS has image categories, PP just a big mess of images ( and no, no one looks whats inside of those albums you can have there ).

Not sure why it is so wrong to support a site thats works - but I hope I can continue to be wrong....

The one thing that stops me paying money for PS is the lack of Postcode based search facility - the South West is huge.

Starglider, if you don't like this site as much as it appears, and you clearly think PP is far better, why are you still here?
PP is more popular than PS now, its true. There is more activity there, but it is run poorly and unfairly. There are a select few who rule the roost and you either put up with them or move on. You pay your money and take your choice, but I wouldn't go back to PP for a gold clock.
Im not sure why your getting so hot under the collar about this, and Im sure there is no need for personal attacks between starglider and marlhamphoto. One of the reasons I stopped using PS was because of the vitriol on the forums, that seemed to stop after so many left and went to PP, and I hope it all went with them.

My apologies Doctor Syn but I hope you will find that my vitriol is reserved solely for people who come here complaining about Purestorm's lack of functionality, lack of popularity and mis-management whilst extolling what they perceive to be the superior virtues of a competitor site. I wouldn't go there to do it to them and it rattles me somewhat that they feel it's acceptable to come here and do it. I hope I haven't tainted your enjoyment of Purestorm too much.

Absolutely not and I do take your point.
