Photographer 2 "Oh, I was going to book her but I might not bother now"

More likely:
Photographer 1 "Oh I was supposed to have a shoot with Artemis last week, but she didn't turn up"
Photographer 2 "What Artemis Fauna?"
Photographer 1 "No, you fool, Artemis XXX"

Quote from Chrissie_Red
Or
Photographer 1 - "Had a great shoot with artemis last week, she's great"
Photographer 2 - "Cheers for the heads up, I might book her"

See above, I'm sure you get the idea.

Quote from Chrissie_Red
Or
Studio - "I have 3 spaces available with the wonderful Artemis next week"
(Most people will presume the studio is talking about Artemis Fauna because Artemis is what we all call her, most people won't know there is a new model also called artemis)

Well most [all?] advertised studio days are accompanied by images of the model(s). I think we'd notice don't you!

People did answer the OP = linking to a thread another new model asked about rates - if she had followed the link she would have found plenty of figures.

Maybe I misread the linked thread but I didn't feel it was terribly helpful in answering the OP's question directly.

I know you guys desperately want to be right but you're just making yourselves look silly.

I don't think it makes anybody look silly - I was giving examples of how a mix up could easily happen.

I bow down to your greater knowledge of EVERYTHING though because you are no doubt older and much wiser than silly little me

Peace out

Right.
I posted a thread asking advice about rates. I had no idea some other person was using same name.
In no way am I unprofessional and wouldn't turn up to a shoot and I resent the implication. Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm unreliable.
Bring down her name? Again I have no idea who she is.
Why should I Change my name? All photographers who have contacted me know exactly who I am.
It was NOT a valid point to bring up as it's irrelevant and I was asking for help on rates. I will think twice about ever asking for help on here again.
I'm not remotely embarrassed about using the name and after all this ridiculous storm in tea cup I will not change it on principle. I don't like intimidation.
With regards to following links, I did and they were most helpful.

Amber has it spot on. Anyone who can confuse two models, one from Tyne and Wear and one from Bedfordshire who look completely different, is clearly easily confused. So, in all probability, neither one would want to work with this person.

What an irrelevant storm in a miniscule teacup!

Put ‘mark’ in the Purestorm quick search and I’m pretty sure I don’t even come up, but plenty of other ‘mark’s’ do… Stick ‘Artemis’ into the same search facility on Purestorm and 2 come up… one 50 from Tyne & Wear, one 25 from Bedfordshire (with the addition of ‘Fauna’ in her nom du guerre). FFS, come on, who on earth is going to misinterpret which is which?

I’d quite happily shoot either, but since this thread was started by ‘Artemis’ (the 50 year old from Tyne and Wear) as opposed to ‘ArtemisFauna’ (the 25 year old from Bedfordshire), if Artemis would like to drop me a line to discuss levels / rates then I’m sure we can sort something out.

For that matter, I believe ‘ArtemisFauna’ is in Doncaster (just around the corner from me) in the near future, so (in the interest of fairness) the invitation to sort something with her is open too.

I’m not the sharpest tool in the box, but I’m pretty confident I can differentiate between the two!

To get to what the OP (ARTEMIS) actually asked about, here are the ‘general internet’ rates I work with:

Fashion: £10 / hour

Swimsuit / bikini: £15.00 / hour

Topless : £20:00 / hour

‘Art’ / ‘Full Frontal’ (not sure what the difference is) nude: £25.00 / hour

Uk mag : £30.00 / hour

US mag £35.00 / hour

Continental £45.00 / hour

Hard girl / girl £50.00 / hour

At explicit levels an additional premium is added for anal.

HOWEVER, this is a very general guide. Some photographers / producers may pay a lot less, some may pay a hell of a lot more. Some models, for instance Sandra Shine (Hungary) and Danielle Maye (UK) can (quite rightly) demand far higher rates. They are established models with phenomenal pulling power for pay sites. Some retired models, for instance, Danica Collins and Cate Harrington, you would probably have to mortgage your house (provided it was big enough) to hire!

Then you have to consider multiple hour shoots. You charge £50.00 / hour for whatever level. Are you going to charge £400.00 for an 8 hour shoot? Most photographers / producers (that I know) work on ‘day’ shoots (5 – 8 hours). The day rate, or half day rate, doesn’t normally exactly tally with the hourly rate – there is an element of ‘discount’.

What I’m really getting at, is it isn’t an exact science. You have to establish a level and a remuneration for that level that is equitable for you and the photographer / producer.

Good luck!

I'll just echo above on the storm teacup. In the end rates are what you can get though and depend on far too many variables to give any real figures. Much of it is about self belief too.

A model who has a figure that suits art nude for example and has worked at that genre will get more work and higher rates than another model simply prepared to give it a crack if the offer is there.

Someone who specialises in fetish and can bring a particular style and appropriate clothes and accessories is going to wipe the floor when put against the ones that happen to have the odd latex outfit or cheap nurses outfit. Ditto the Glamour model with high class lingerie that actually fits and is kept for shoots or the Plus size who knows which part of her market suits her best.

Initially I would suggest rates is the wrong area to focus on, beyond having a clear idea what you need to charge to make it worthwhile. Better to get in the shoots and work out where you want to position yourself and what you need in the way of images, makeup, posing skills, clothing and accessories to ensure the clientele you are after come knocking.

I do understand why this discussion came and can also see why others do not know why it can about. I wonder if PP would allow anyone to sign up as Artemis....
Having worked with the "real" one I can say she is an exceptional model so would be disappointed if I booked the wrong one, (but sadly?) model names are not Equity registered so anyone can call themselves anything...

Signed Bob...or Mark... or Dave...

I'm also looking for experienced advice on whats fair to charge, I feel like the purpleport advice is maybe a little under for a few things, and would be interested to hear from people

An answer has been goven already to this 3 posts above - its probably very similar to advice you will get anywhere for an experienced model that people want to book.

If you are not experienced, don't have an established portfolio or a look that is already in demand, then achieving those rates may well be a struggle
If you have to ask why I do it, you will never understand the reason why

Artemis is quite free to choose whatever name she likes. Past experience with my posts shows that certain individuals like to read more into a post than the original statement or question posed. I think they just like to see their name regularly appearing on posts.
