Firstly I like Purestorm. It's a nice site.

However it is really quite obvious that the site is dwindling badly. Anyone who argues against that surely has to have their head buried in the sand to see that the sheer traffic is essentially collapsed in the past year.

The site needs to start doing something now, if it's not too late, to get noticed again, to get more people wanting to have their portfolio hosted here.

Can anyone point me to the 'wall of shame' that has been mentioned on here. Also does it only list people who have been banned from this site, or does it include people who have been banned on other sites, and have then registered and been approved by this site.

Just on this site.....have a look on recent forum threads

I've heard several people say that the site is all smoke and mirrors.

To my mind the fact that so many people who are active there come to this forum imploring PS to mirror that site's functionality says it all really. Clearly there's something going on there which they're not comfortable with. Rolling out the statement that 'competition is healthy' just doesn't cut it.

Exactly that. The blatant clique-tastic ethos of the other place is impossible to ignore - and when you comment adversely on it, you get banned...

They're so up their own RedChecker is a naughty person s that they've even made it a site rule not to critisize.  RedChecker is a naughty person s.

Even in forums on there if you rub their fur the wrong way, or a member of the inner circle you get the site's owner sending you a private email (to your actual email account) suggesting you're perhaps not cutout for that site and that perhaps you should look elsewhere.  Unbelievable.

I get fed up hearing people moan about PP and in particular about its admin - not just here but models and photographers you meet and work with. Disfunctional links clogging up FB timelines etc etc. But with the exception of pornographers who rely on a steady stream of new faces (and need a site to bolster their credibility) and those whose social lives don't extend beyond internet forums you don't really need modelling sites - whether it be PS, PP or elsewhere. Everything is increasingly FB/Twitter centric - and even though I'm an old fuddy-duddy when it comes to social media it serves me well.

Anybody with any sense would have read the signs in the early days of PP and known what it would become. Personalities seldom change and there are plenty of people who put their weight behind PP early on only to be dismissed and discarded when they were no longer needed.

When I took up model photography the first site I encountered was Net Model. It didn't take me long to realise that I didn't particularly like the 'in your face' laddish nature of the forums there (each to their own obviously) and I was glad to find an alternative in the shape of PS. It seems to me that those people who were once the tacky forum warriors on NM have migrated to PP and the dominant atmosphere on PP forums is now much the same as it used to be on NM. Frankly there are sites with a better class of people with whom to rub shoulders in the forums - although to be fair it's probably only a small percentage of people who are responsible for tainting the site.

But in all honesty I think people should just move on. Certain things are unlikely to change - including the function and objectives of PS. It's no good moaning about it - especially if you're one of the people who deserted PS and are therefore directly responsible for the 'decline' as many describe it. I suspect your particular views are unlikely to count for very much here.

There was a time when I could put out castings on PS, PP, MM and NM and get a reasonable response from all.  Alas, 3 of these sites no longer gererate ANY response for TFP, paid work or anything else for that matter.  Even MCM has a higher turn-over of submitted images (albeit the quality is generally a lot lower).

I did mention the wall of shame. A young lady? on it obviously had her frusration trying to join and tried way too often......but in the interim she has 93 positive recommendations on a rival site.  Surely we need active working models like this to keep the turn-over and generate the interest, and in return, business?
Administrator Input
If any user ignores formal notification that any further attempts to rejoin will result
in them being added to the 'Wall of Shame' and they then create yet another profile
we do not think they are the type of member this website needs.
Every person on the Wall has several prior Suspensions / Rejections in force
and every one has been given Fair Warning before being added as a last resort.

The function and objectives? To provide a product/service that people are happy to pay for and to make money for the site owner.
Same as any other site.
Right now that objective is failing. Simple as that. And if people have deserted the site, then they're by definition not the ones moaning about it as they're not here... derrr...

What makes you thing that? I doubt it's the objective myself - secondary perhaps. But I don't know.

Plenty of them in this and other threads which seem to get created on a regular basis. What I don't get is why those people have taken all their activity elsewhere, sing that site's praises and then come here to implore PS to mirror its functionality on the back of some vague suggestion that if PS did that everyone would flock back. On the face of it that's just ridiculous. Unless there's more to it than meets the eye.

Nobody sets up a website out of purely altruistic motives... they do it to make money.

The website already exists. The issue is whether further development will achieve anything.

Investment whilst activity persists is one thing. Investment in the [perhaps vain] hope that activity will grow in the future is another thing altogether.

People have already chosen to kick the place in the teeth once so I can understand a lack of appetite to bow to peoples' cries.
