Quote from jivago Please quantify "disproportionate" and please clarify its basis?

Or as an alternative - you can take disproportionate to mean having a serious impact on the living standards of the less well off by increasing, for example, the cost of their fuel bills and summer holiday flights with taxes which don't affect the rich significantly. Not that you clearly have any empathy for the poor. One of the problems of the better off and educated strata of society having an unrealistic view on how the country should be run.

NIce try! - Special pleading invoking the poor - You should be beatified! laugh - But what you and other right wing Corporate apologists would like us all to forget, is that there is another 'degree of freedom' - Why should the poor bear this burden? Here it comes (Steady now!) MAKE LESS PROFIT! Don't pass on the costs to the consumer and society, Man-up!  and act with 'corporate responsibilty' - To society and to the environment. Profit may not be legitimate, until societal and environmental responsibilities are firstly discharged - Or everyone subsidses your profit in some way.

...Quantum leap for an ex financial advisor I know! - But the only real way to balance 'all of the books' - Including the costs that are off the fiscal balance sheet.  In this case that would mean internalising many of the costs for CO2 etc abatement.

I know its tough for you Tories to get this sad   Just Imagine being asked to account for non-financial costs of your personal profit - 'Good God its worse than socialism'!

Before you come back blustering or snide - Why not educate yourself re the economics of 'externalities' and see the 'Tragedy of the Commons" by Garret Hardin

You run your own business to minimise the profit do you? Splendid recipe for a thriving country! You really do live in cloud cuckoo land. Imagine trying to borrow from those evil bankers with that business plan!

Not sure why you call me a Tory - I was not aware I was!

It not about me - But for your infomation, I don't run a business with environmental 'externalities'

But n
ow we get to the hub of it - What you reveal is that the bankers etc are not prepared to face up to their 'externalities'

What a cloud cuckoo land you (and they) live in - Constantly myopic about anything other than profit!  In cuckoo land by thinking this can go on forever! - That the environment does not have a finite 'carrying capacity' If it's is not CO2 and Global warming its something else. The examples are legion! CO2 SO2 and acidification. Take your pick. The message is the same.

.....Before going any further, I think we need to know that you can comprehend 'externalities' - In other words the non-fiscal costs that we all have to bare, so that a tiny few can make profit. What the science of the  'carrying capacity' is.

........Do the reading and come back telling us that you have navigated yourself out of cuckoo land.

Nature or God whatever you want to call it,controls what happens on this planet. If the highest form of life(debateable)us chooses to mess things up,nature will put it right. Our lords and masters politicians and scientists have no more understanding of what is happening than us minions. We pretend to understand nature but it operates on a much higher plane than we can ever understand.
So if we damage the enviroment nature will sort it out in its own way.

I can no doubt then assume you do not drive or fly as this has environmental impact?

I've not read your books (probably far too erudite for my simple mind)- but at least I can spell "bear"  You must have shot too many nudes!

Walk eh - on water too no doubt? Looking at your images - you must be quite tired when you get to the locations carrying all your luxury equipment and I notice you pay for models' air fares - quite a non fiscal cost for the rest of us to "bear"

No it's not about you - though hypocrisy is always an attractive feature of affluent left wing bigots!

As big business says "every little helps"

So! - Not erudite but prone to snide asides. No vision - Eternally defending big business. A pedant re spelling - Nice!

Definition of stalked - having one's profile on the web site read by another member of the same website? Wow! How outrageous. Feel free to read mine.

Not that pedantic - if I went through the whole profile I could point out many errors - but reading that much self aggrandisement might prove too nauseating. But it is amusing from one so happy to display his own erudition.

Finding it difficult to justify your contradictory stances - so resorting to abuse.

No surprise there!

No vision? We get no vision from you - merely the outpouring of bile without any practical solutions.

Good to talk.

As someone who's been following the science since the 1970s, I'm dismayed and sickened by the ignorance and arrogance of anyone non-scientific (with a relevant specialism) who thinks they can give an opinion on this imminently species-threatening crisis. It also makes me angry, because it's my grandchildren, and possibly children, who will die miserably.

And yes. I'm serious.
