Hello all.

Does anyone know if this years F1 grandprix's are being shown totally on SKY F1 channel OR is BBC viewing some races like last year?.
Im a SKY subscriber but just a basic user, no interest in SKY sports(other than F1)....anyone know if 'one' can view live races without paying sky thru the nose ?.....
Any assistance will be greatfully received.
Phil

I think if you have Sky HD you get the F1 channel - I have the movies package (which includes the HD channels) but not sports & I get the F1 Coverage

Oh and the BBC have the TV highlights for the races they don't cover live

Thanks guys...Oh glad bbc are still doing races, tried looking on bbc website and couldnt find owt.
I dont have HD and think its £10 to add it..Think ill have to get rid of internet & phone part of package so i can afford the HD & F1 part.
Anyone out there see F1 via SKY??....Anygood?..worth the extra?

re the Sky coverage:
It depends how avid you are & whether you prefer their presenters (to a degree I still prefer some of the BBC presenters).

There is loads of coverage on Sky. The pre & post shows are both long - too long perhaps. As well all practice sessions & additional shows - it is a dedicated channell afterall I haven't looked to check how the line up is this year but the main commentator last year was Martin Brundle who of course left the bbc to go when Sky got every race.

When recording the shows because they are HD and Long they EAT up disk space.

Hope this helps

Nige

I think its worth every penny! You get all the testing and practice, qualifying and races plus a million repeats in full. Also they have a weekly F1 shows and review the days action every evening. They also show loads of old races which are better watching than the new stuff :P

So you get one hell of a lot of F1 for your money.

The old BBC team had better chemistry But the new guys are ok

++++ 100, I was finding my HD box needed about 30-40% spare for the whole weekends coverage.

Booked my tickets for Silverstone a few weeks back, stupidly expensive  but each year I go back

I don't have sky, freeview rules. It's good to know that I will be able to watch a few races this year. Can't wait to see what Lewis can do in a Merc.

+1 Last season Sky had a programme about every team taking part that was repeated several times through the season plus documentaries on indviudal drivers - they have a whole channel to fill and they are going to fill it!

The race day coverage has so much to offer you are spolit for choice, we've finally caught up with the rest of the world as far as F1 digital coverage is concerned.

BBC is good if you just want the bun but of you want the burger as well you need Sky
It was broken when I got here

I'd recommend Sky's coverage, I find it totally comprehensive, miles better than what the BBC and ITV did with it.
