Is this a racist vulgar cartoon - as someone commented?

I'd imagine C&C were usually too high to manage anything as complex as vulgar or racist.
Modesty is just arrogance in stealth mode

Vulgar? A little, perhaps but somebody is far too keen to wave the race card.

I guess if it were produced today, (by white folk, taking the Crippen is a naughty person ) then it might be considered slightly offensive. But as it stands, surely it's just a piece of history.

Rather like this song from 1907

Which when it was written, I'm certain was not intended to as offensive, as some might consider it to be today.

Intention is everything!

That's exactly why I don't think it's racist. I would concede that it's pretty un-PC and even distasteful by today's standards.

If the intention was to cause offence or provoke racial hatred, which I doubt was the case, I would say it was racist.

Almost anything is offensive if you want it to be and try hard enough.

The many black friends I have had over the years, I would not expect to be offended by this. SOME that I have known were 'offended' by someone asking for black-coffee rather than coffee without milk. No-one is more offended than some-one who WANTS to be.

There was a report of a council works canteen banning the use of the term Spotted Dick! Did not last long.
Who but a jazz man would say of Bridget Bardot, "Man, what key is she in?"

Well, that's three minutes and 44 seconds of my life gone forever! It's a crap song and a crap cartoon. To answer the question, if it was produced by a black person, then it would be a finely crafted semi satirical piece of social commentary. If by a white person then it would be a racist depiction of white stereotyping. As someone has said, it's a matter of intention. But modified by an eager willingness on the part of some to take offence where none is intended.

+1
When you are dead, you do not know that you are dead. All of your pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.
