| CSD_Images Photographer Location United Kingdom Grampian Aberdeen | How much control do you want over it, want to do you want to do with it? Quick and simple would be WordPress or Wix, I prefer WP as that can grow with you, plus it's easy to change the look of the site with a few clicks. | |

| AegeanSoft Photographer Location United Kingdom Derbyshire | Commercial web space with unlimited GB bandwidth, email, unlimited sites, easy to install software such as Galley and Wordpress is available for as little as ($9.95) £7 a month from Dreamhost.com in the US. I have used them for 13 years and are as reliable a host as I have experienced. The easiest way to get a website? Ask a commercial web site designer like myself to quote you |

| bravepioneer Photographer Location United Kingdom London | I wish people here would stop recommending Wix.com & Moonfruit.com. They're both Tumblr, Blogger or Wordpress.com are the only free solutions worth considering, simply from a SEO point of view alone. The first two are customisable too. The cheapest real solution is a self hosted custom Wordpress.org theme at a minimum. Dreamhost is cheap and OK for a low traffic site, but a bit amatuer. A good recommendation for cheap self hosting though, but not the best uptime in my experience. Anything less, you're better off with a Facebook business page if you want to simply promote yourself and make as many people aware of you as possible, combined with the proper use of Twitter. Be wary of offers of 'web design' from people with It's about marketing yourself, spreading YOUR word, not someone elses bad web design. |

| Bayrunner Photographer Location United Kingdom Dorset Beaminster, W Dorset | As with most things, ya payz for what you getz.... Moonfruit etc are free, simple, and OK if you just want to park a few images and say a few words, and aren't unduly worried about SEO and developing into a full blown site. Great if you are amateur and just wanting a web presence to send others to. If you want to develop something worthwhile, WordPress is a good way to go, but if you really want to make a good site pay for a good template: There are very few good free templates out there. If you do get someone to build you a site, don't pick just any old designer - find one who you have some empathy with and will get you what YOU want, not what he wants you to have. You don't say what you want the site for, so its hard to give you anything other than general advice. |

| hhoa Photographer Location United Kingdom West Yorkshire Leeds | I wish people here would stop recommending Wix.com & Moonfruit.com. They're both Moonfruit are supposed to improve the gallery display soon, which could be promising, and Wix well the free option is okish. It depends what you call cheap, for free but a bit limit there is portfoliobox.net (actually even with paying $69/year the templates are limited) but they have good some good stuff for a photographic portfolio, well i'm happy with them and i really think they are worth to be checked. The paying option includes the domain name and an email named with your website. Easy to use too. |

| TheChrisS Photographer Location United Kingdom Cambridgeshire | Learn HTML I cannot stand websites that generate a page for you - they're predictable and uninspiring. You want a site that reflects YOU as a person and what YOU are capable of - not a random template thrown together at the click of a few buttons. |

| AegeanSoft Photographer Location United Kingdom Derbyshire | I wish people here would stop recommending Wix.com & Moonfruit.com. They're both Agreed Agreed and a stand-alone Wordpress is better because you have your own .com etc. domain name. A host is a bit amateur? Strange comment for a service that hosts over 1/2 million websites. Low traffic? One site of mine, hosted on Dreamhost ,is 406,000 Mb in size, handles 17,700 MB a day in traffic and uses 547,421 MB of bandwidth a month, hardly low traffic. My Pingdom stats (an independent uptime check service) for a major, high bandwidth, site hosted on Dreamhost is 99.93% uptime over the last year. That is downtime of 1 hour 38 minutes in total the last 365 days! I don't think many companies will be able to improve on that. Many companies do not notify you of downtime and it is always advisable to have an independent uptime analyser on your site to notify you if it goes down. I have been producing web sites now professonally for over 13 years after a long career in scientific computing and work with many different web hosts on behalf of my clients. Dreamhost provides services comparable with the best dedicated servers for a lot less money, including providing a free .com domain name with every account. The enquirer wanted low-cost and so, as you admit yourself bravepioneer, Dreamhost is cheap in comparison to other hosts. |
