| Mike012B Photographer Location United Kingdom Channel Islands Guernsey | Hi all I'm coming to London shortly and am hiring a couple of models off here for a shoot. The idea is to travel around on the tube and do some urban shots around London. Are there any places that anyone can recommend as great backdrops/areas for urban or even modern? Cheers Mike |

| LaurenceJPower Photographer Location United Kingdom Surrey Esher | Avoid Trafalager Square and close to the London Eye, Security guards take a very keen interest and there are limits to what you can do - they are not public rights of way. | |

| Mike012B Photographer Location United Kingdom Channel Islands Guernsey | Thanks very much I take it you don't get much hassle photographing around the place? I'll be traveling with just one light for ease getting around etc. |

| RayLiu Photographer | If you shooting around City of London, be careful of some the areas around Liverpool Street as they are privately owned and there wil be some jobs worth guards about (though they are usually quite sheepish if you have a model with you). I second around that area though as many of my shots have been taken there on a weekend, including the now imfamous head shot of Mimi C (which is not on here anymore). |

| Mike012B Photographer Location United Kingdom Channel Islands Guernsey | Cheers, I'm hoping to get an experienced model with some local knowledge for the first day and I'll take on board everything said here and form a plan. There are two of us togs going so no light stand, one hold, other shoot and naff off if approached. Second day I'll see if I can get a couple of less experienced models even tfp etc. |

| photomane9 Photographer Location United Kingdom London Bexleyheath | The canvas you have chosen is enormous. You could spend a whole day just in the City. Parks have been suggested but bear in mind that a) they will involve a lot of walking and are not ideal if the weather is iffy, and b) most of the large ones such as Richmond Park are Royal Parks and, technically, you need permission to shoot If you look at all professional. The Royal Parks have their own police force. I would suggest using Google Maps and Streetview to plan in advance as it may save time on the day, unless your models are very familiar with the locations. Also if you are not working over a weekend, don't be afraid to ask for permission - not from the uniformed job's-worth, but someone in an office, a facilities manager or the like. I have done this countless times and it's rarely a problem if you explain what you are after. |

| Mike012B Photographer Location United Kingdom Channel Islands Guernsey | Cheers, the idea I had was just to get an Oyster card and pick a few destinations on the tube and go for it. I'll do a slightly more detailed plan now you have all been kind enough to give me some advice. I'll have a look at Gmaps thanks, I'm sure the model I've asked has London knowledge, I should hear back soon. Do you know of any areas that are public but covered in case of rain? I know shooting on the underground is not allowed. I was thinking about doing some around the area of Oxford/Regent street too, with the hustle and bustle of a busy London street background. |
