| PB001 Photographer Location United Kingdom County Durham Peterlee | Go find a shopping centre that has a closed clothes shop in it which may have a few lying around, ask the centre management if you can have one, if they've been left they'll probably end up in a skip anyway. | |

| PG_Photographic Photographer Location United Kingdom Edinburgh Edinburgh | Must admit when I first got my studio I did consider getting a mannequin to practice lighting, not that anyone will probably believe me, so did a bit of googling on the subject. My logic was that if you were going to be paying money for one, then really you would want to get something that you could light in as many scenarios as possible and as a result started looking to see if there were mannequins that were poseable without replacing arms and legs to get different positions. Anyway, my searches ended up with a thing called a RealDoll which features an articulted skeleton ie. it is fully poseable. I then saw the price of around £5,000 and realised it was a darn side cheaper practicing lighting techniques with real models. I was curious to know, though, if someone did light one well and did a bit of photoshop could they actually pass off an image that people might believe was a real model. |

Someone did exactly that on these forums some years ago with a photo of a RealDoll (one of those posh sex dolls) and I seem to recall it tricked a few people although admittedly the photo was a little soft / poorly lit IIRC |
