| paulbatterbury Photographer Location United Kingdom Derbyshire Derby | I am also Ex-Army, and I still have many friends still in the mob. The face of the Army has changed a lot, mainly due to the media of today. The good points about the Services, a pension, health and dental services when you need it the bad points are the stress and strain on you personal relationship, devoice is high within the ranks and always moving around, great when you young, but once you are married and have kids, you will want to put down some roots. Joining the Army is one thing, but what do you want to do in it? many people join the Army and score high on the BAR test, and get into a Corps pass their Basic Training and end up confessed to what trade they will do with in that Corps. I saw many friends re-trade to lower grades because the original trade they picked was for them, and the Army is not very forgiving on people who can't make their minds up. The RAF is a much better career for a woman, but they are highly selective on who they take and the current recruitment process can take 18 months all the services are now selective due to cut backs. |

| Jamie58 Photographer Location United Kingdom Gloucestershire | +1 I agree RAF Reservist here. If you're not sure join the Reserve Forces i.e. TA, RN Reserve, Royal Auxiliary Airforce. If you like it you can transfer to the regulars. We've had people form our Squadron join the RAF, Amy, Marines etc. If you want more info feel free to pm me. The reserve forces will be expanding in the next couple of years. |

| Stuart Photographer Location United Kingdom Cumbria | Just wondered which part of services are thinking of signing for.How long for as well. There is no choice on the duration, everyone singns up for 22 years now with notice period being 12 months. Most Trades want 5 years back from you before you can submit 12 months notice. The notice period used to be 18 monts until some used the Law to get out withing 1 month and the European Court ruled it would be 6 months and then on appeal went to 12 months. |
