| TonyS Photographer Location United Kingdom West Sussex Shoreham By Sea | Been researching a new camera. Ya know, SLR style, but compact size and simplicity ( aka: The Holy Grail) Anyway, I've never really taken much notice of these 4/3's camera's but the last few days I've read some intersting Things about the Panasoni G range, and also the Olympus Pen stuff. Anyone got any of these systems? I'd be interested in any thoughts on this platform, some of the bodies are frighteningly cheap. Whats the catch? are lenses swapable accross makes? |

| Photoimager Photographer Location United Kingdom Staffordshire Stoke-on-Trent | Olympus 35-100 F2, no one makes an 'equivalent 70-200 F2 lens. The increased DoF with the crop enables you to use lower flash output power leading to quicker recharge times etc. The 2x crop sensor does not lend itself to high ISO. |

(Mate has one and had to get a convertor) I think that there is rarely a viewfinder which is an issue for me. (I do not mind EVF or optical) But the pictures are lovely. I have seen really good pictures from the Samsung one and the Sony one. If Pentax brought out one with a full size mount and VF I would buy one. |

| TonyS Photographer Location United Kingdom West Sussex Shoreham By Sea | Ive seen all makes of lens converters on ebay for a lot less than £20! (actually, that was for GF1,2 etc, dunno about Pen et al) Could they be the thought of a £200 body with me 50mm Nikon strapped to the front is interesting. |

I use 4/3 (Olympus) and picked up a pen EP-2 a couple of years ago for something small and lightweight for when I'm being a tourist. Any m4/3 lenses will be compatible with any m4/3 body. The EP-2 focus with the standard lens is kinda slow, I've read that this is fixed in later models. I don't like using the LCD on the back so I also have the EVF, which is OK-ish. As mentioned, high ISO is a challenge. I got a 5DMKII specifically to deal with low light/no flash situations, also nice when you want a very shalow DoF but for everything else the 4/3 stuff is my preference. Sure, if you pixel peep the Canon has better resolution but for everyday stuff (web, photobooks, prints up to 12x16) there is no practical difference. The OMD looks really interesting, doesn't come cheap though ! |

| TonyS Photographer Location United Kingdom West Sussex Shoreham By Sea | yeah, the OMD is too expensive. I like the look of the PENS, but the GF panasonics seem better spec'd. saying that, i cant stand the look of the panasonic, so while my head says Panny, my heart says "Ugh!" so, any lens on any body!?! thats gotta be good news! |

| otteypm Photographer Location United Kingdom Staffordshire | I have the EPL-1. Its great to carry around, I have the 20mm lens on it. Very solid build quality all the control you would need and surprisingly fast to change settings once you get used to the buttons. The battery last forever. Alternative lenses are very expensive for the good ones. | |
