DON'T !!

I'm not TOTALLY anti-tattoos ... I actually find them quite cute if very small and done where lingerie will totally obscure them. Anything else is there to 'make a statement' - so not a 'private' thing that remains personal or is revealed to someone (by choice).

More often than not (and this has got worse in recent years) ... I just think immature, cheap, tacky, naff (and LOL - often 'out of date'*)

* Name of 'ex' / yesterdays (disgraced) popstar or sportsman.

Sorry - much that I WANT to stay on the fence on this one, I can't

I absolutely DO however, admire those that are brave enough to get (often several) large 'works' done for the 'art'. At this level it is often a big 'lifestyle choice' (not unlike going out in certain leathers and on certain machines with the 'old yet hip?'  greasy / hairy biker types) . Or being 'goth'. ETC ...

I also think people (like the latter lifestyle 'groups' too) are (generally) SO unoriginal (and the tattos are very copycat on the whole as well). They want to make a statement that they are 'different' and not 'vanilla' ... but it has almost the opposite effect for me.

It's their body - but it AINT lipstick, make-up or hair colouring .... nuff said !!  (It's PERMANENT - not just for Xmas)

As had been said they are a permanent fixture on your body. Hair colour and make up can be changed every day if desired. Tats are there. What will they look like in 20 years time when your body shape has changed?
They may be in fashion now but in three years times perhaps not?
My clients would not have girls with tatoos for promotion work or normal advertising and glamour work. Certainly not for art nude work.
There is a nich market for tatooed models at the moment but like most fashions that will go but the tatoos will not.

Personally I hate tattoos and on an art nude model a tattoo is wrong. As you say a blank canvas and all that. It is your's and everyone's choice and you've all got the right to have a tattoo. On models for the most part I think more hassle than its worth.
For now we are in a fashion spell for tats but fashions come and go. The tats don't what seems like a good idea now may be what was I thinking 10 to 50 years down the line.

Personally; I'm not a fan of tattoos on women.

Actually, it depends.

I always think if you're going to get a tattoo, it needs to look a part of you; like a sleeve or something.

I personally think random tattoos just stuck on the skin look unsightly, on both men and women.

However, that is my general opinion; there are some exceptions.

I say; if you want to get it done, get it done.

Worst case scenario is you don't like it...then just get it removed.

As a model who has 3 small ones on her body I can vouch for the lack of art nude modelling you can get....however there are creams and powders which can cover them up and not change the colouration of your skin.
If you truly want a tattoo that really and honestly means something to you, then get it. They have recently become a fashion statement and seem to be the 'in' thing at the moment but again, don't let that stop you from getting one.
I've got my tattoos in places I know won't stretch nor disform very much when I do finally get wrinkly and fat. It took me 9 months from saying I wanted one to getting my first one. There are so many factors to think about and it is permenant so you do need to think it through.
But it will get to the point where you say 'screw it, I want and I don't care what people think' and you'll bite the bullet.
There are plenty of really good models out there who have tattoos. I do believe Fleur Du Mal has got one now but also check out Ryo Love and Adreena UK.

PS I don't see what the OP's face has to do with the fact she wants a small tattoo that will be nowhere near it!?

Well I don't know about you but I intend to look fabulous in 20 years.  My body shape is unlikely to change and the tattoo wll still look great

This sentence has made me inordinately happy ^_^

I've not had mine long enough to know how it's going to affect modellng offers, but I'm fully prepared for art nude photographers to not want to shoot me now.  That's fine, it's their prerogative.  Let's be honest though, I'm getting on a bit and I was never the most saleable model in the first place, so I doubt it's going to affect any 'career'.  I've not modelled seriously for a while now anyway.  But yeah.  If you accept and understand that it will cost you work, weigh up the pros and cons and then see how you feel

It only happens all the time.
