| flashman Photographer This member has been suspended | I need to find a new satnav to replace my waterlogged one. I have always used a TomTom without any issues, apart from paying to update the maps. Been to several local stores and find a number are saying that Garman are the better ones now especially those with lifetime map update. So who uses what and why? Anyone have any points to share. I was intrigued by the latest Navman which comes with a 10ins screen and those who have trouble seeing the map |

| HowardJ Photographer Location United Kingdom Surrey | I have a TomTom and an iPhone with Google Maps. The thing that gets me about people using satnavs is the way some people stick them right in the middle of their line of vision creating a huge blind spot where a car can hide. They're not supposed to be used like some kind of heads up display (although one that projected ike a real HUD would be cool). I always put mine low on the screen, so it's not in my line of vision and then I use the voice directions mostly and look at the display if I need to double check which lane to be in. |

| w4pictures Photographer Location United Kingdom London Chiswick | I use nDrive, which I understand is Tomtom for Android. Its brilliant. The last time I used it, it pointed me in the wrong direction and then froze solid. I've reverted to older but better technology, the A to Z of London. Balanced on my lap, it sometimes makes it difficult to steer but generally gets me there. Any problems, I ask a postman. |

| RedChecker Photographer Location United Kingdom Buckinghamshire Stoke Mandeville | The Garmin's not as user friendly as TomTom IMO and although the maps are free, they're rarely updated and the update process is a bitch to use (takes bloody hours and crashes often) | |
