| stevephot Photographer Location United Kingdom North Yorkshire York | . And Jassups wonder why their sales are falling... I perosnally blame 2.8 million unemployed spending thier money on more important things than new cameras or Jessop prints rather than them stocking an item they are not likely to shift or the manager not knowing about a product he does not stock. |

| Renton Photographer Location United Kingdom London | When I was a student many years ago I worked for jessops in Kingston, the manager had a policy of only hiring students (photography or art) or those interested in photography. Before every shift on a Thursday or Saturday we would spend an hour looking at anything new or training on something. The staff were knowledgable because they had been at the company for years, then in a cost cutting measure (long after I had left) the company made all the assistant managers (who were on good money), that had been on training courses, go and hired much cheaper staff, the result is generally disinterested and unknowledgeable staff. There are still one or two branches that have some good staff in (Richmond) but not many (please do add to the list if you know any (talk to Pete in the Richmond branch), I use Calumet, Jacobs (most) seem good and teamwork. |

| Fox2006 Photographer Location United Kingdom Tayside Dundee | Jessops in Dundee is pretty good, most of the guys in there are actual photographers. They give good advice without being pushy however most their prices are above average, though sometimes they are cheaper than the rest, my pocket Canon s95 was cheaper in Jessops than anywhere else at the time. | |

| oceanova Photographer Location United Kingdom Essex | I recently bought my mum a panasonic lumix to take on her travels to australia, jessops online was by far the cheapest and got cashback as well, but as previously stated when I was still using bronica, 120 film was a complete non entity in colchester, then my luck changed, the staff found a whole box of mixed 120's, all out of date and he gave it to me for a fiver! Result! |

| Hobbeldehoy Photographer This member has been suspended This member has been reset to pending Location United Kingdom Dumfries and Galloway Dumfries | They still have a few veteran sales assistants who know their stuff. I can't see them surviving, I much prefer on-line shopping and I suspect the majority of consumers are now thinking the same. |

| nige_nw Photographer Location United Kingdom Lancashire | It's a while since I have been there (same one I guess) - probably about 2 years. I can't remember the actual conversation but at that time I was surprised that the guys in there did actually know about photography (the staff churn had already begun). I guess they have now all left I miss Abbey Photo in Blackpool who shut several years ago now but at least we have Wilkinson Cameras in Preston who as well as knowing about cameras have usually got great prices |

| kenp Photographer Location United Kingdom Dorset Weymouth | I think it was 16rpm - the idea was to play double the time of a long playing record but it never happened. 16rpm records were widely used for talking books. The low rpm meant a narrow dynamic range, which didn't effect the spoken word to any noticable extent. |

| mph Photographer Location United Kingdom Cheshire Crewe | In currys once i asked what was the difference between 2 tv's. The answer after a couple of minutes puzzled look was ' one was a sony, the other a toshiba!' In a similar instance I asked about the difference between 2 scanners (of different makes and prices) in PC World and was told that one was blue and the other black! |

I guess they have now all left I miss Abbey Photo in Blackpool who shut several years ago now but at least we have Wilkinson Cameras in Preston who as well as knowing about cameras have usually got great prices The staff used to know a lot about photography but the current lot don't appear to have any familiarity (or interest) with it not even the stock they have in the shop. Their standard answer to most direct questions begins with "Well, if you look on our website..." I have fond memories of Abbey Photo. I bought my first ME Super from them back in '82. |
