Quote from Vas
So are you totally self-taught on the pole? Are there any dvds or anything you'd recommend?

Would be interested to know too...

I'd be worried about injuring myself or getting ingrained poor technique if I self-taught.

i do pole dancing the key is to not giv up as much as you want to. some pole moves will burn you but the more experience you get the quicker you will forgett or be able to cope with it. try not to be stiff make sure ur structure is always right otherwise you could pull a muscle. do not do pole ancing if your creamed up lol youll just slide off it like i did when i fist started. wear short shorts and a sports bra that way you have all your skin out for when you need to use it. if your training in heels cheat and buy heels that have a rubber front on them its easier to grip haha , if your not swinging and your practicing grip on move practive with leather gloves on they will help you stick. i have lots more advice but thats meens this would be an essay haha good luck xxx

i think this was the dvd that i used when i first started http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320731115535

i think self teaching may be a slightly slower process than taking classes as you won't have someone to tell you when your doing something incorrectly, using a mirror or filming yourself can be a big help. when you first start you will only be doing spins round the pole which carries practically no chance of injury, just lot of bruises.
