Tuition charges for models

I just wondered if MUAs in general offer basic makeup tuition courses to new models?

I was thinking something along the line of four hours to cover foundation, blusher & eyeliner & eyeshadow.  Nothing too intricate that could be forgotten the next day.

Is this something that MUAs offer at present?

I'm just curious because I meet (And, regretably) shoot a few models who can't match their foundation to their rest of the body, or even apply lipstick without missing a bit, smudge their eyeshadow & so forth.

Wouldn't teaching models to do proper make-up not be a bit counter-productive for MUAs? After all one wouldn't expect a professional portrait photographer to teach customers how to take their own family photos, so surely a MUA who has invested thousands in her career and hundreds in her kit would be doing herself (or himself) out of a job?

Oi, get out of here.  You're not a MUA!  emoticon

Joking aside, I'm not asking MUAs to give away their hard learnt secrets.  I'm just asking if any get paid by models for very basic makeup skills like those that I mentioned.  And, if any offer those skills to models who just want to learn the very basics & learn what to avoid.

At the very least, at the start of the shoot, I can tell the model I don't like her makeup & she can remedy the changes that I've asked.  I do this quite ocassionally.

At the end of the day, surely this is paid work for a makeup artist?  Photographers get tuition from professionals as well, don't they?

I offer tution to women ( models , or other women ) who want to learn some basics. Some women just don't know what to do and I offer lessons to give them some simple techniques to basic make up.
It does not affect my business as I still have many clients who prefer to use me because of my experience, ideas, techniques etc. As you also say it is still paid work and as Crispy rightly says in the absence of a professional MUA at least models can do a fair job of make up.
hope this helps, but unfortunately I am not close to you
regards Karen

Most larger modelling agencies offer this service to their new faces. How to do their make-up and look natural/get the flawless look for castings etc. I offer make-up lessons too, in group or one-to-one lessons. Please e-mail for quotes.
