Haha that's brilliant!
She's absolutely beautiful and it's so nice to see a woman mixing something so 'girly' with something so 'manly' =]

Hardly a great move for the feminist movement though, in these times when 'real' soldiers are losing limb and life doing there job .. :o) Discuss ...
Don't believe anything I say above.

"L/Cpl Hodge was nicknamed Combat Barbie in 2005 after being given a bravery commendation for saving the lives of members of her regiment in Iraq.

They were held at gunpoint when their vehicle overturned but L/Cpl Hodge punched the gunman and took his rifles."

The word 'discuss ..' was purposely put there because I suggested the feeling from this could be negative .. I didn't know where she was stationed, whether active, combat administrative or whatever ... so I didn't take a stance except to ask the question :o) So I am not biting on that one :oP

However I still ask the question that in times when women are trying to gain equality in the forces and other areas does it really go down well when people are fighting and dying STILL. And if she was this commended soldier maybe she more than anyone could do better to build on that rather than turn tail and perhaps undo all the good she has done by replacing battle dress and gunpowder with undressed and facepowder ... if one of the highest profile female soldiers ends up doing this it doesn't read well and the fact that she did earn her spurs makes this situation all the more uncomfortable. It's like finding the head of a Vegan Organisation tucking into a Big mac ;o)

P.S. I will still say that she is very brave and courageous ... far braver than me ...

I could never go on stage in swimwear ;O)

Nice backtracking there , fact remains the choice of the word "real" was a bit of a slight given her history ,and I dare say having her gain publicity as a miss world contestant may highlight her role in the army and bring forth attention to the fact that there are woman out there serving their country ,  also having her as a role model for a modern woman who can have freedom of choice to take on traditional male roles and still retain her femininity too.

I put the word 'real' in inverted commas to accentuate then added 'discuss' at the end .. I have never used the word discuss before in a post and did it 100% to suggest a viewpoint and wait to see what people think .. and I can tell you Mr JohnE I am not backtracking one tiny bit .. you may wish to miss the subtlety in my message - I cannot account for that inability .. maybe it was too subtle or badly written or maybe you chose and will continue to choose to take the way you wish .. that is your prerogative .. but no backtracking and I will continue to ask the question if you wish. I will clearly state what I think and state IMO or 'in my opinion' when I make an opinion known as I have done in the past .. you can try and pull me up on this but I am not going to get hung up on subtlety and semantics ..

mmmm i think your out of order there! there are many women out in Afghan and Iraq risking life and limb doing the same work as ''real' soldiers. they do the searching of women whilst on patrol, medics and not mention serve in the Special Forces along side the guys taking the same risks as them. I find your posts here quite patronising towards them to be honest.

As for diluting the cause of the feminists I think the opposite will be done
I have never developed indigestion from eating my words.
